Western Cibao Waterpark Holidays

I enjoyed my stay at Fiesta! The staff is so kind and welcoming.. from concierge to room service. The room was spacious and sitting on the balcony to enjoy the sun was great! There were minor details in regards to maintenance to the hotel that needed taking care of, my room had a minor leak in the bathroom and the sink faucet was a bit loose. I didn’t complain bc it wasn’t anything that really affected my stay. The rooms come with blow dryer and clothes iron which is helpful. Everything else was clean. I think it’s worth the price. Food was okay, nothing out of this world. And drinks were okay as well. Downstairs was live music and there was a wedding party one night, that unfortunately was up late and loud in the hallways but that’s not anything I can hold against the staff.

Everything was going well until my daughter became sick after breakfast one day. She experienced vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. I was instructed to take her to a clinic at the property, which required an out-of-pocket payment, and I also had to purchase medication, which was very expensive. Two days later, I became sick as well. Despite this experience, I really enjoyed the activities offered at the property. However, I was disappointed with the cleanliness of the beach, which could have been better maintained.

For the price, I expected much more. My biggest concern was privacy in the room. The toilet is separate, but the door has no lock, and the shower has clear glass, allowing anyone sharing the room to see you showering. It is also near the room entrance, making this even more uncomfortable. The hotel is very large but lacks clear signage to the lobby, buffet and other areas; even the elevators do not indicate what is located on each floor. Staffing seems limited, and at the buffet we sometimes had to find our own utensils or look for assistance. Food has variety but is average, the specialty restaurants were disappointing, and the snack area closes well before dinner. Bars also close early and entertainment is limited for a resort at this price. Guests should be clearly told at check-in about the $20 charge for a lost towel card. I also noticed wide gaps between sections of flooring at the rooftop bar/dance area that could be a tripping hazard, especially for someone wearing heels. Another major issue was booking: Expedia only allowed 3 guests in our two-bed room, and adding a child at the hotel cost almost $90 per day on a nonrefundable reservation. The private beach is a plus, but overall the hotel needs better privacy, signage, staffing, safety and value for the price.

El Embajador is an excellent hotel with excellent staff. The premium club room staff on the 5th floor are excellent.
