Eastern Norway Mountain Holidays

The hotel was fabulous, it was exactly what we were looking for. Ideally located for the ski museum and a 15 minute walk downhill to the train station, uphill on the way from the train station! The hotel has the most spectacular views over Oslo and Oslofijord. The breakfast is plentiful with options for everyone. We stayed over Christmas and were disappointed with the Christmas Buffet (the options were very limited compared to what was advertised, the limited dishes made it very overpriced, even for Christmas Day), drinks from the bar are expensive but no more than the rest of Oslo. The lounge areas are gorgeous and very peaceful with a wood burner/fire on the first floor and a fire pit on the ground floor. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The view from the rooms with a balcony at the front of the hotel have the most beautiful sun rise and sunset views over Oslo. The family rooms are generous when the sofa bed is as a sofa but a bit cramped when the sofa bed is out. The double rooms are quite small and seem to be on the opposite side of the corridor so the window overlooks the section of hotel behind so have no view to look at. Overall the rooms were clean, we had a double and family room and if in the rooms, i.e. presents on Christmas morning, we stayed in the family room as the double had limited floorspace Aside from being disappointed with the Christmas Day meal, we had a fantastic stay and have already looked into returning for next Christmas.

Great location for a getaway out of the city center, but transportation is an issue for tourists, and food choices are non-existent. The hotel serves the same food the entire week. When booking Expedia wrongly mentioned it was close to the city center

This is a beautiful hotel that I have had the opportunity to visit in the past. We stayed 4 nights this time and have enjoyed the quiet beauty of the hotel and surrounding area.

Room was beautiful. The entire property is filled with painting, sculpture, warm elegant design details. We walked from the metro and it is a bit of a hill but not too long and worth it for the views and privacy.
