The kitchen was very sparsely equipped almost to discourage any use. It did not even have a knife or a cutting board. As such, the room was very clean.

The Kamana Lakehouse is exceptional. We felt very well taken care of our whole stay. The front desk staff was extremely accomodating, holding our bags before check in and taking them to our room and booking a taxi for an excursion. The servers and bar staff we're great as well. The food was the best we had on our entire trip to NZ. The included breakfast in the morning is completely worth it!
It's easy to get to the wharf via Uber or the bus. You can also walk to the Sunshine Bay Track nearby for an easy hike. There is a restaurant and convenience store across the street as well.
There is construction going on nearby, I was worried this would be more disruptive but it wasn't too bad. It was active (and loud) during the day. It did affect the experience in the soaking tub, so if you can, book after 6pm when the construction is done for the day.

Clean rooms with lots of space. The garden was peaceful and the thermal spa that came with the room was very enjoyable. Being a short drive into town was also a bonus.
