Fantastic place in the heart of Ueno and a short walk to everything.

The Capitol Hotel Tokyu lived up to it’s 5 Star rating. The property and our rooms were impeccably clean. The in room amenities were great, all you really need to bring are your clothes as they have everything else in room. The restaurants were delicious and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. We loved Tokyo and The Capitol made it that much more comfortable and special. We will definitely return to Tokyo and will stay at The Capitol Hotel.

The executive lounge in particular was excellent!

Property was clean and the room we got was large enough that our family of 4 didn’t feel like we were constantly in each others way or anything. Location was good. Plenty of options for food and drink. A large donqi was about a 5min walk away and a small shopping center, both right next to hop street. But if you’re planning on spending more time around shinjuku and/or shibuya it’s quite far, which unfortunately is what we did.

The hotel was really nice. Very clean, and the room was a nice size. We had a view of Mount Fuji from our balcony. Unfortunately, there was no patio furniture provided to sit out on the balcony. The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the train station where all the action is. When booking it said the hotel provided shuttle service from the train station to the hotel, which is one of the reasons I picked this hotel. However, the shuttle service was very limited. You could not get a shuttle to the hotel from the train station until 3pm. We got in earlier than that, so we had to take a cab which cost about 1.300 yen. And even when we called at the designated time to get the shuttle from the station to the hotel the next day, we were told that one would not arrive for 20-30 minutes, so we just walked. You also had to book the shuttle to the train station when you checked out and were warned that it may be full. Despite these two issues, I would stay there again because the hotel was lovely.
