First time staying at a “historical hotel of America” and I have to say… I was rooting for more. Dissapointed at the lack of actual preservation of the space. Too much of a modern aesthetic and very little antique environment. The most antique thing in the hotel was the carpet!! And not in a good way- it was way too old and stained. I also came across a cockroach on the bathroom floor. A pretty big one at that. The view wasn’t much either and the windows were filthy. The bed seemed clean. The room over all had an ok feel to it, with basic cleaning at the surface but if you really paid attention there needed to be some deep cleaning done. Over all pretty bummed that my first time at a historical hotel wasn’t a great experience.
The workers were very nice and courteous. They made my stay more comfortable. Thank you staff!

Nice hotel! Great bars/restaurants in an awesome location. Staff was friendly and attentive. Found out the last day of my stay they had a house car. Would definitely recommend!

I booked a water view with king bed room and arrived at 630 pm. I was offered an upgrade to a higher level suite for only $100 more than the already $700 I paid for the original room. The receptionist initially told me it had a balcony, but when I got to the room, while it was beautiful & on the 14th floor, it did not have a balcony. I immediately called the front lobby & spoke with the receptionist who checked me in, & she apologized for telling me it had a balcony when it didn't and then informed me that my original room, or any room with a balcony for that matter, was no longer available. I simply retreated to accepting the room, as it did have a nice view, but again- no balcony.
Some part of me just genuinely felt slighted & lied to. It was within a matter of 3 minutes from the time I was assisted to my room to the time that I called back down to the lobby. If a water view room with a balcony was not available when I checked in, then they should have said that from the beginning and given me an honest opportunity to decide if I wanted to spend $100 on an upgrade.
&While the room had a nice view, the vent noise from the heat was so extremely loud that I could not fall asleep. Finally, at 2 am I had enough, called reception again and had to have the maintenance engineer come to my room just so he closed the vents to cut down on the noise. So ... I slept in a cold room... not so luxurious to me. All day dining for room service ends at 1030 pm btw... Watergate ...misleading
