Had an amazing time!

We had a room in the fifth floor facing the ocean with a balcony that had a lovely view. However, the live music starting at 4 to 10 pm at this resort and adjacent resort was incredibly loud and annoying and my husband and I had to wear ear plugs to sleep. The sliders were closed and AC fan was on but had no or little effect on the noise. If the sound had not been amplified it might have been ok. My family in another side of the building could even hear it. I tried to rent a beach chair for $10/hour (why so much?) that were all sold out by 9 am. I almost never saw anyone in them. I gave up and bought a beach chair fur $24 at ABC store and had to leave it in my room when I left. Also the second night my family in a room in the eighth floor had raw sewage bubbling up in the bathtub and had to move out. Also when the tsunami warning occurred in the afternoon every store and food place closed in the resort and in the street and the employees went home. Thousands of guests including kids had no dinner. My daughter and her family were stuck on the north shore and went to shelter in an evacuation location at thw Ritz who gave everyone, guests and evacuees, a buffet dinner on the house. That would have been nice. It was sad seeing little kids crying in the lobby for food especially since there wasn’t even a single wave over six inches I could see hit the shore during the whole warning time. I was grateful nothing flooded but seriously. The staff and valets were amazing.

It was the best stay for our family’s first time in Hawaii!! I can’t recommend this place enough to people. It’s great for families like us with kids. The views are spectacular. The staff even just from the beginning were so welcoming! They gave us free water flasks bottles and beach toys for the kids! The rooms were so clean and the valet people were incredibly nice and always smiling! Would definitely stay here again when we go to Waikiki!

The breakfast was really good and so is the bakery. I wish it just opened a little bit earlier.

The hotel is beautifully decorated and offers an elegant experience. The staff is professional and friendly. The food is fantastic. It's all in the little details, it feels luxurious but comtemporary. They even have a guess lounge to accommodate if you have checked out but you want to stay at the property while you wait...all in the details

The Waikīkī tower at the Ala Moana Hotel is undergoing renovation. This Luana Vacation rental has recently been refreshed. Bright colors and updated furniture really have improved this property. Good value for the money
