8.6/10 Excellent! (1,006 reviews)
We stayed at the Novotel Ambassador Gangnam for four nights. The hotel is beautiful, spotless, and very well maintained.
However, we were disappointed by several points. We booked through Expedia for three guests (two adults and one child). At no stage of the booking process was it stated that we would have to pay an extra charge for an additional bed. On arrival, we were asked to pay about €50 per night for our daughter’s bed. Since the reservation was clearly made for three people, this should have been disclosed before booking.
We were also surprised to learn that, because we booked through Expedia, we only had access to the swimming pool, while the sauna and steam room were excluded. Guests booking through other channels apparently had full access. These restrictions were not made clear when booking, despite the hotel advertising these facilities.
Finally, while the hotel itself is excellent, we found some staff members rather dismissive when we raised these concerns.
Overall, the hotel is very clean and offers high-quality facilities, but the lack of transparency regarding extra charges and facility access negatively affected our stay.

9/10 Wonderful! (1,310 reviews)
I was disappointed with this hotel and don't feel it lives up to its advertised 5-star rating.
When we arrived, the air conditioning in our room wasn't working properly. A member of staff came to try and fix it, which improved it only slightly. To the hotel's credit, they did provide us with a fan, but this isn't what you would expect from a 5-star hotel.
The room itself showed signs of poor maintenance. The towels were very thin, frayed around the edges, and had started to grey with age. The bathroom sink tap was loose, and there was missing grout in the shower, giving the room a tired and neglected feel.
The swimming pool reservation system is also extremely frustrating. Having to book a time slot makes it difficult to plan your day, especially when reservations fill up. I also don't understand why the rooftop pool area is restricted to guests aged 19 and over, which limits access for families.
The rooftop terrace itself has great potential and offers lovely views, but when we visited it was completely empty and lacked any atmosphere. It felt like a missed opportunity for what could have been one of the hotel's best features.
Overall, while the staff were polite and did try to help when issues were raised, the overall standard of the facilities and maintenance falls well short of what I would expect from a genuine 5-star hotel.

Great service from check in to checkout. Very short walk to the beach, shopping area, restaurants. Easy access to transportation stations. Highly recommended. Surely book again this hotel for another visit.
