We liked what Etihad provided but did not like the level of service we received having booked through Expedia. Although being a member of both frequent flyer organisations (Etihad and Virgin Australia), the seats we were initially given were the worst on the plane - it is only because I used seat guru to check that I managed to change the seats before we left Brisbane. These were in row 83 on an A380. This flight was almost empty and so we managed to secure better seating than we were offered - but this was through no effort of Expedia to ensure they customers get any good customer service - and the impression given that seats requested via Expedia will be honoured is laughable. Additionally, having been told by Expedia that we were travelling Q class, and having talked to Etihad to check that this enabled us to have two bags at 23kg each, when we got to check in, we were told that we were only allowed on bag each because we had booked through an agency. This negated the class of fare which we had paid for. Luckily, being a velocity member, I managed to check in an extra bag and we were left taking the rest as hand luggage. This was inconvenient and really a problem with Expedia and your partnership negotiations being passed down to customers. Having talked with your customer service team on the phone on a different matter, I realised that it was not going to be a solution to talk with them again as they proved to be unable to help and impossible to understand or hear. All in all, Etihad was good but our overall experience on Expedia was very disappointing.
