Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Zaganiaris?
The best area to stay in Zaganiaris is Plaka, which offers a blend of convenience, beautiful surroundings, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Plaka is the main village and the heart of Zaganiaris. It's built around a central square, Plateia Plakas, and features traditional Cycladic architecture with whitewashed buildings and narrow, winding streets. You'll find a good selection of tavernas, cafes, and local shops here. The village is elevated, providing lovely views of the Aegean Sea and the surrounding landscape.

Couples will find Plaka particularly appealing due to its romantic setting and the ease of exploring the village on foot. Enjoy leisurely strolls through the charming streets, stopping for a meal at a traditional taverna or watching the sunset from a cafe with a view. The relaxed pace makes it ideal for a peaceful getaway.

For those looking for a slightly more secluded yet still convenient option, the area just outside Plaka, towards the coast, offers excellent choices. These properties often provide more space, private terraces, or even private pools, while still being a short walk or drive from the village amenities.
When is the best time to go to Zaganiaris?
The best time to go to Zaganiaris is during late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to early October).

These periods avoid the intense heat and larger crowds of the peak summer months, while still offering warm, pleasant weather great for exploring and enjoying the island's natural beauty. The sea is warm enough for swimming, and the island's walking trails are particularly enjoyable.

Couples looking for a romantic escape will find these shoulder seasons ideal. You can enjoy quieter beaches, more intimate dining experiences, and easier access to popular attractions without the summer rush. The sunsets are particularly spectacular during these months, offering a serene backdrop for an evening stroll.

For travellers planning a trip focused on outdoor activities like hiking or cycling, late spring and early autumn provide comfortable temperatures. The countryside is lush in spring, and the autumn light is especially beautiful for photography.
