I would like to give a big shout out to the Chief Butler (I'm embarrassed that I did not remember his name). This gentleman had gone above and beyond the call of duty in helping us with arrangement for transportations and dinner reservations. He's a gem. In terms of breakfast, the selections are good, but I wish there are more or maybe change up daily so it doesn't get boring. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the comfort and cleanliness of the hotel as well as the attentiveness from the staff. Highly recommend.

Lovely hotel
Very comfortable room (great bed, strong shower, blackout curtains). The breakfast was lovely. The hotel arranged a car to take us to the terra-cotta warriors.

Best hotel in XiAn
I believe this is the nicest hotel in XiAn. Beautiful hotel in a great area, inside the ancient walls of the city and within walking distance of the center, the drum and bell towers, and Muslim street. Service was top notch. Tough to find food hotels outside of major cities in China (Beijing, Shanghai, etc..), but this definitely did not disappoint . Surprising for XiAn.

Magical 30th Birthday in Xi'an
The hotel was up there with the best in Asia - a glass of champagne on arrival and incredibly attentive staff at every level from the cleaners to the GM. The rooms were furnished to top international standard and incredibly tastefully done. I was staying for my 30th birthday - unfortunately the hotel left it to 8.30 pm to send me a little cake but by that point we had put my daughter down to sleep and they KEPT calling the room telephone to try and deliver it and waking her up. I had to go down and tell them to stop calling and that it was too late for us. The only small issue on an otherwise fantastic stay.

This is a fabulous hotel. The room was beautiful and the service is great. It also has an old world flavor and elegance. If you would like to feel like a visiting dignitary, stay here!

This is a beautiful hotel the prospect is gorgeous and the building is absolutely beautiful. The staff are attentive and the afternoon cocktails were a great bonus. The “free” minibar is not much to write home about so don’t get too excited about that but that’s hardly an issue.

Great location! Walking distance to Drum Tower, Bell Tower, Muslim Quarter. In a compound away from the street so very quiet. One of the few hotels that has a pool which is unusual in Xi’an. Staff speak excellent English and are very helpful. Spacious rooms.

Above and beyond!
It was not my first trip to China and certainly not the last, however, being a frequent traveler it was my first time I felt such an exceptional hospitality and was surrounded by incredibly welcoming and caring staff that I feelt for a moment I am leaving not a hotel but home. The property is located in a quiet area further away from busy roads creating an impression you're out of town. The room was large and tastefully decorated, and had everything you can only need while far away from home. I am certainly staying here if I come back to Xi'an!

A true 5-star hotel option in Xi'an
We loved the time we spent at the Legend People's Grand Hotel, not to be confused with the three other hotels that are part of the same compound. Although they are owned/operated by French group Accor, the People's Grand is their flagship property. To say the hotel is in perfect shape, would be an understatement. Styled after a French chateau, the building and rooms have been fully renovated. The hotel staff was attentive to every request, and the rooms did not miss a single detail. I have been to very few rooms where every single detail (from a French press coffee maker) to plush slippers and bathrobes was so thought of. If you are visiting Xi'an, the People's Grand will provide all the charm of a high-end French hotel with the service and kindness of its Chinese staff. Every afternoon, the hotel offers complimentary drinks and snacks in the beautiful bar. Also, if your visit to Xi'an includes a trip to the Terracotta Warriors, the concierge at the hotel can arrange a chauffeured car and guide at reasonable prices. The only (small) disappointment for us was the Chinese restaurant in the adjacent building, recommended by the concierge. In truth, high-end cuisine in Xi'an is limited, but we were hoping for expected a better experience from a 5-star hotel.

Excellent Stay in Xian
The Sofitel Legend is an excellent hotel and I would rank it among the tops I've stayed at including the Rtiz and the Four Seasons. The staff is extremely accomodating. Whenever I asked of anything in the room, they would immediately bring it to me within minutes. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Xian.

Not a good choice
Horrible experience at check in and rude, lackluster service at the breakfast buffet almost every day our stay. Worst of all--I had a massage/facial at the spa and now am experience an allergic reaction so severe that I have to seek medical attention.

Amazing Hotel near City Center
This hotel sure gives Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton a run for their money. It's been an amazing experience from the time we checked in till we checked out. Could not rave enough about this place. Will definitely be back if we visit Xi'an again in the future. Kudos to the staff for making it a memorable experience for us.

The facilities are excellent. The location is good although it is a little distance from the city centre. When we arrived there was an offer to upgrade at considerable extra expense. When we turned that down we were left feeing a little like second class citizens. The staff were not particularly helpful.

Great Value 5 Star Hotel
This is a 5 star hotel in every way but for a price that makes it incredible value. Strongly recommend anyone who has wondered about 5 star comfort but baulked at the price to take advantage of this opportunity. Restaurants are outstanding - Moroccan and Brazilian ones were brilliant - but will be at 5 star prices. And Xi'an is just a wonderful city to visit.

We booked a luxury room and got upgraded to a junior suite. The facility was great, heated indoor swimming pool and gym. We also got a surprise as it was one of our members' birthday, as we came back from a birthday dinner, the hotel arranged a big Black Forest cake in his room and we were impressed by the arrangement.

Excellence in Xi'An
We stayed in Xi'An during golden week! The hotel was wonderful. THey provided us a room updgarde on our arrival and even though our room was not ready they gave us a complimentary beverage while we waited a few minutes. The hotel was in walking distance to many sights which was perfect for us! The Concierge who was from Madison, WI gave us excellent dinner recommendations. The only down side was that the pool heater was broken so the kids coul dnot swim in the evenings. That would be our only complaint!

the brand says it all
the hotel is as good as it gets, and deserves its star rating. the staff is all English speaking, and they are very helpfull with any requests. the room was very modern, large and very clean. the complex is very secured, and you dont see any solicitors. free WiFi worked very well. breakfast was plentifull, but a bit costly (not included in our package). we felt very welcome. perfect place for anyone, that can afford it.

If what you are looking for in a hotel is a beautiful room and lots of extras then the Sofitel is for you. If you wish to stay in a hotel that wants to serve your wish to have a special time viewing the sights in Xian, stay elsewhere. It was our hope that tours could easily be made through the hotel. Instead they sub-let the tour to an outside source who wanted us to spend the majority of our time at buying trips.

The pool and spa area are also very good. 2 minor things on the "must improve" side: 1) the hotel has 2 wings, we stayed on the west wing where the breakfast schedule is only until 9:30h, so when we woke up later, we had to go to the east wing to have breakfast (until 10.30h), which is not convenient and doesn´t make any sense. 2) On the west wing there is a nightclub and the music was so loud that you could here from wherever you were on the lobby, which wasn´t pleasant.

The hotel was magnificent with beautiful rooms and overall situation. We were disappointed in the breakfast options. My wife and I only wanted coffee and a roll before departing on tours. The only facility available before 9 is the expensive full buffet breakfast.
