really enjoyed our stay at Schlosshotel Steinburg. Our room was beautiful and charming, though a bit small — something to keep in mind if you’re traveling with a lot of luggage. There’s no elevator, but that’s noted in the small print, and we didn’t mind. While there’s no air conditioning, there was a fan provided in the room, which helped keep things comfortable. The location was perfect for easy drives to all the nearby attractions, and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. A lovely stay overall!

So beautiful

This place is phenomenal. My two biggest "complaints" are that there is very little in walking distance (about 30 minute difficult walk to town), and NONE of the TV channels are in English. Not a single one. The only English channel they had was "unavailable." But, if you're only there for 1 night, it's not an issue. The room is SO comfortable and the place is so great. Don't even get me started on how gorgeous the view is.

This place is tired and strange. The only thing going for it is the food service and the view. The dining room smelled like my grandmother’s house in the 1970’s…just saying. Cozy rooms and tiny bathroom, but hotel layout is dreadful. Reviews are way too forgiving. Very little English spoken by the employees. Old world Germany. Beware.

This is a beautiful, historic property. We booked a room that turned out to not feature air conditioning, which the hotel explains on its website but I didn’t notice a warning when booking though Expedia. Luckily the night was cool enough to get along nicely with opened windows. The restaurant was disappointing. We wanted more of a snack after having a late lunch on the road and the only offering was an an expensive, multi-course menu whose description seemed overly contrived and ambitious given the restaurant’s modest online reviews. We were seated next to a wedding party and then ignored, which fueled our best decision to get back in the car to eat elsewhere in town. It seems odd that the hotel doesn’t have a separate bar according to the front desk, although a downstairs location looked like there was once one. I would probably stay again for the view and the chance to explore the property further, making sure to figure out the air conditioning options and planning to dine offsite.
