We had the private room and private bathroom, so it was more like a quirky little hotel for us. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the shower was good. It’s conveniently located near shops, restaurants, the river and across from the train station where there’s a huge parking garage. Staff are really nice I left my necklace in the room when we checked out. I called the front desk and she got it for me within a few minutes.
We have stayed in hostels (double rooms with en-suite) many times and have had great experiences. Here, not so much. Firstly, location good, great view of the station. Check in was friendly and charming. But the room, basically it needed gutting and a complete refurbishment! Sofa and mattresses were old and stained; we know this because we had to make our own beds, a first for us! Furniture tatty, paint peeling, the single towel thin and rough. It wasn't even cheap, if you are considering paying this sort of money do yourself a favour and check in to a proper hotel!
This hostel is literally right across the street from the train station. This was our first stop on our trip and after traveling for 12 hours and getting hit hard by jet lag, we were so happy with this location. We were much earlier than we expected to be and the staff was very accommodating. They let us leave our heavy bags with them so we could walk around and explore the city without all of our gear until check in. We opted for the patio room since we knew we would be exhausted from travel and want some quiet space to decompress. It was clean and comfortable. We didn't use the small kitchen in the room but it was nice to have available.
The only negative was we were awoken in the middle of the night by people literally shouting and singing at the top of their lungs nearby. It didn't sound or appear to come from people at the hostel itself but it was certainly a trade off for the convenient location. We would stay here again if we returned to the city.
Had a great stay in this clean and easy to find Hostel opposite the train station with other transport links nearby and all the major sights walkable.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
There is plenty of space in the room with lockers and hangers for clothes. The rooms and hostel are cleaned daily too.
There is a nice sized fully equipped kitchen for cooking. A breakfast is available for 7 euros between 8-12 am which is very nice.
The one negative is if you do not have an ensuite bathroom there are two mens showers and three separate mixed toilets.
Everything is nice and convenient about babelfish hostel .
Only bad thing was that i got a parking ticket after 2 minutes of stopping the car on the sidewalk in front of the hotel door while i was already inside to check in and my family was still in the car. It didn't matter when we explained the cop that we were going to move the car immediately and skip unloading for the time being.
No trash can, very slow drain in the bathtub drainage, people besides my room smokes when it is hot outside and no AC I have to rely on opening window. You also need to make a bed yourself. The reception desk no body from 2-5pm. I arrived a bit early than 2 so catch the staff there. No headboard in bed; and there's black stuff on the wall. It is simply disgusting for this price! I will never recommend anyone come to here.
The concept of the hostel is pretty young and energetic. It encourages young people to travel and to meet others. The shared area: kitchen, dining, common room is quite a relaxing vibe. On the wall, there’s every detail of the hostel own style of deco and design.
Breakfast offered was healthy and delicate. I like that it does not have the big chain business style but unique and refreshing.
Everything ( cleaningness, tidiness, deco, bathroom) was good. Overall it was a pleasant journey.
The only problem was you never know what people you would bump into in the hostel. When we stayed at the hostel, the last day we bumped into a rather old man and he seems a bit sick or in obesity. It’s not that I discriminate old people staying in hostel but it’s just generally hostel would not let in people older than 45 for their health concern. After all, if something happened to them (climbing the bunk bed), it may be a great risk…
