Secluded Weekend Getway
Returning customers to a much needed retreat to the cabin in the woods. 10-15 min away from Bennett springs for some trout fishing is a must. Great location, great stay. Thank you for the hospitality. We’ll be returning again for sure.

A little slice of heaven!
Everything about this was perfect! Communication with the host was great and every detail was covered in the messages I received well ahead of our arrival. I was even notified that the property was not booked the day before so we were welcome to check-in early. The cabin exceeded our expectations! It was beautiful, very clean and fully stocked with anything we could have needed. The private river access so close to the cabin was awesome! We had so much fun kayaking, fishing and just relaxing by the water. The location of this cabin is absolutely perfect! We were looking for a quiet, relaxing getaway for our family and that's exactly what this is. We didn't want to leave and are already planning to go back later this year.

Bi-annual Fly fishing trip…
Our group has stayed at Cave Creek a couple of times. Our short stayed reminded us that we like the layout and amenities. We were allowed an early arrival that let us drop foodstuff and trundle done to the state park for a warm Friday afternoon of flyfishing. Plenty of cookware for meals, easy to follow instructions on shut down at departure. Comfortable sleeping, great fire pit! Thanks and kudos to host.

Wonderful Retreat
We wanted solitude and a natural setting and this place was perfect for that! The river was low but still beautiful and we spent a lot of time sitting by the river just enjoying the fall colors. The cabin was clean, spacious and comfortable. We built a fire each night and it was very cozy. Will definitely be back!

Loved it!
This cabin was perfect for our family. If you're looking for a secluded cozy get away this is it. It ended up being cold and rainy while we were there and this place took relaxing with a movie by the fire to a whole new level. We will definitely be back!

The cabin is great if you are looking for privacy this is the place for you. The road getting out can be a little treachous but with four wheel drive is fine! The trail going down to river definitely need a 4x4. The cabin itself is furnished nicely everything you need and room to spread out. The host are great. We will most likely stay again!

Clean and Comfy with great private spot on the river!
Cabin was very clean and cozy. Very well equipped with kitchen supplies, grill, and plenty of towels. Enjoyed the available kayaks, fire pit and screened in porch as well. 4wd/awd a def must for accessing the river, but great private spot once you are down there.

Another wonderful weekend
This is the third time we've stayed at this cabin. The seclusion and private river access is why we come back. I read a review stating there is no river access. There is. You need a vehicle to get there. I walked it...once. It's quite the hill walking down and more of a mountain, lol, going back up. For those expecting a big river, you'll be disappointed. While the name is Niangua River, it looks more like a creek. Still swimmable as long as the water is up. The bank has changed over the years, which is the natural process. This summer there was still a nice sized bank to have chairs and coolers. We enjoyed many hours there using the provided inner tubes and kayaks. There is no internet and, for us, spotty cell service. There is TV and a selection of DVDs. Plenty of outdoor space to play around the cabin. If you're allergic to scented laundry detergent, I recommend bringing your own towels. My family is sensitive to the scented soaps so we brought our own towels this time. We used Riverfront Campground & Canoe for our float. Prices are reasonable. Its about a 20 minute drive from the cabin. Wonderful customer service. The first time we traveled to the cabin we got lost (our fault, not those of the owners). I dropped a pin in Google Maps and have used that since, although after the first trip we know where we're going now. For those who enjoy a walk, it's just under 1 mile from the cabin to the gate at the end of the driveway and back.

Fantastic cabin in the woods!
We had a wonderful time at this cabin. The owners did a great job of providing us a fully stocked cabin with all the essentials. We had a group of 9 (4 adults and 5 teens) and we all fit very comfortably. The shed on the side of the cabin had chairs and rafts which really helped us enjoy the river just a short walk from the cabin. The fire pit had ample seating around it with plenty of fire wood provided by the owner. It was such a fun and relaxing stay that on our last night we went ahead and booked for next year. If you are looking for a secluded, stocked cabin that’s close to a river then look no further. This is a little piece of paradise and we can’t wait to come back next year!

Fun time floating
We stayed here to go floating on Niangua. The house was very nice. Clean and had everything we needed. We really enjoyed it. The only thing that I would suggest is that the description doesn't describe the drive. It is a very rough road. We have Explorer and was fine. Wouldn't want to take a reg car on it.

No river access
Cabin was nice, but the description of the private gravel bar access was deceiving. Property owner told us once we arrived that they were working on the road to river but it was just a short hike to river. It was not a short hike, but a steep downhill slop. I never even made it to the bottom. There was no way my mother or kids could have gotten up and down the road to the river, especially trying to carry anything. It was quite disappointing, as that was the main reason for booking this rental. We wanted to be close to the river. Nice house but needs to change description on river access. There was none

Fun weekend with friends
We got to live life together for a few days cooking meals and playing! Playing in the River was a blast: tubing, catching crayfish, tadpoles, fish and exploring. We enjoyed the fire pit and some football in the backyard one night. On a rainy day we played games in the living room and on the porch. The big hill scared us on the way in when our minivans were loaded with people and stuff. We struggled to make it up, but didn’t have trouble on subsequent trips.

Great place to escape with the whole family
Loved staying here. Had our whole family. Plenty of room to be together or apart. Brought our UTV and glad we did to help transport down steep road to the river. No Wi-Fi which is ok with us. Definetly recommend!

Gorgeous cabin
We had an incredible stay at the cabin. The location was very secluded but perfect once we made it down the gravel roads. The cabin was exceptionally clean, fully stocked and absolutely gorgeous. We had an incredible time with the whole family and will definitely stay again when we are back in Lebanon.

BIG Cabin in the Woods
Very spacious lots of places to sit and eat, fire pit was awesome, real cabin feel without the negatives, only downside is 1 bathroom and no Dishwasher, Guys do not like to wash dishes. But really enjoyed the stay. Host provided, coffee, condiments, firewood, Hot Choc, would certainly rent again, especially if they added a DW! LOL

Rustic but comfy
We arrived after dark in rainy weather, the GPS on the rental was for New York not central Missouri, to say we had problems finding it was an understatement. Once there it was very comfy and rustic with million dollar views. The tv /dvd didn't work and very little signal left the children at a loss to stay occupied as the weather was terrible. We had a great time playing board games and enjoying each other's company. It was a bit pricy but I'd recommend it for the get away.

Great way to start the new year!
The cabin is very comfortable, situated on a quiet wooded property just outside Bennett Springs State Park. It's lovely. We hiked down to the Niangua River, drove to the park, had a campfire, and just enjoyed our family time. We've been here several times and love coming back!

Even better than expected
We just had the best weekend with good friends at the Cave Creek Cabin. The cabin is very clean, well decorated and bigger than it appeared in the pictures. It very comfortably accommodated 6 adults. We had everything we needed for a fun filled weekend. The private river access and proximity to BSSP was ideal for fishing and relaxing. We enjoyed the fire pit out back and stargazing with our telescope. We will definitely return for a visit again soon.

15 Years Later and it’s Still the Best!
Another fall weekend of fishing, yard games, non fires and a bunch of 40 year old men telling stories of our weekends gone by is officially in the books! 15 years now my group has been coming to this beautiful cabin in the woods, far enough from civilization that a late night game of washers won’t bother the neighbors but close enough that getting to the stream in the morning is just a quick truck ride down the road. Every year someone in our group comments on how fantastic this place is and I couldn’t agree more. Thanks to Gwen Riggs and Family for keeping this place so neat and tidy! Can’t wait to go back next year.

We have been coming here for vacation for 9 years. We LOVE it and recommend it often.

Beautiful weekend on the river
We stayed here for a canoe trip on the river and had a great time. All the adults were comfortable, and the kids thought the place was the best ever. Don't be fooled by the random pin dropped in google maps a few miles away that is labled "cave creek cabin resort", and follow the directions from the host to get there.

Such a wonderful cabin. Private gravel bar is fab.
We stayed with 9 kids, 3 adults, and two dogs. The cabin is adorable and well furnished with the basics plus a bit more. The property is perfect for throwing a football, having fires, shooting BB guns. The loft is adorable and has 4 beds, our kids loved this. The private gravel bar and river access is so perfect you can easily pack a lunch and make a whole day of it. We used the 4 tubes provided to float around the river and had a blast. The river there is perfect for dogs so definitely bring them too! There was a nice fire pit but you may want to bring your own chairs. Most of the log benches aren’t usable any longer. I’d also warn against walking to the river access. It was a treacherous drive lol. Can’t imagine attempting that carrying the tubes and our coolers or kayaks. If you are looking for a well equipped and absolutely gorgeous cabin, stay here. Great private river access, that alone was a selling point. The owners were very responsive and recommended an outfitter for us to use for a float trip. The will pick you up at the cabin! Anyhow. Greet cabin, property, amenities, owners. We had a wonderful stay. 100% would stay here again.

Our stay was wonderful. The cabin was everything we hoped it would be. The peace and quiet was amazing. The drive into the park at Bennett Springs for fishing was short and easy. Just wish the fishing would have been as great as the cabin stay. Communication with Gwen was easy and responsive. Will definitely recommend to friends and would most definitely stay again in the future.

Perfect spot for an unplugged weekend
My family and I love this property. We found it last year (summer 2021) and have decided to make it an annual trip. With 10 people in the house (6 adults, 4 children), the one bathroom hasn't been an issue...something we thought might be a deal breaker. We extended our stay this summer by one day so we have a whole day to spend at the private river access. It was wonderful! We've already started to plan our summer 2023 trip.
