the cabin we stayed at was exactly as the description provided by the owners (100% accurate). what a great place to come back to after a wonderful, but hard day of hiking up Wright Peak in the High Peaks. Clean, comfortable, and a hot shower with good water pressure especially appreciated! So was having a keurig coffee maker, stocked with coffee fixin's! thank you!
We had a perfect 3 night getaway in our cozy cabin. The fire roared all day and night and we took lovely walk with the dog in the woods and admired the flowing stream. We came exclusively for the peace, quiet, and fireplace and got exactly what we needed. We ordered Rudy’s Scar Bar just down the road for two delicious dinners. Coming back in February to a slightly bigger cabin with our two kids, aged 6 and 7. Plus the dog, of course.
Cabin was so cozy best part was the fire place inside used it every night. Loved the outdoor fire pit, dogs enjoyed the stay and Yann was always around if we needed anything very friendly can’t wait to come again love this place and area everything was so beautiful….
What do I expect in lodging? I want a place to be safe, clean, comfortable - and the owners to be accessible if there are any questions or problems. This checked off the boxes.
The cabins themselves are small but comfortable and equipped with most necessities. I'm guessing they were initially intended more for winter use, as they're close to Whiteface. Given that I was there in warm weather (to hike), I had no need for the heat or fireplace, but the cabin did not seem like it would be drafty in the cold. There's no a/c, and while the windows aren't really ideal for cross-ventilation, there were two fans and a screen door that allowed for comfort. The cabin was clean and had no bugs inside.
The beds are comfortable. There's plenty of additional seating, including a table with stools - ideal for meals. The little fridge and microwave did their job. Unlike many rentals of this type, the water pressure for a shower was great. The hot water held up well, and the little tub was functional.
Yann was very communicative from the start, initiating and continuing a text message dialog during our stay. This is unobtrusive and convenient, as is the no-contact check-in. I suppose I could nit-pit minutia, but there's no need. We had a very pleasant stay and would both return and recommend this place to others.
The location is conveniently along a main road, although tucked back enough to feel secluded. The cabins have enough space from one another for comfort, and the (closed) restaurant in front adds to the sense of privacy. The big, old trees lend a feeling of peacefulness.
My understanding is that this place had been in business for many years with owners who retired relatively recently. The new owners seem eager to please and learn as they take over the helm.
Great and very responsive hosts who bought the place just before Covid hit from a family who ran it for 50 years. The cabin is pretty bare bones right now but new owners are slowly doing renovations. It is in a great location and at a great price. Really enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying there again sometime
Property was just as expected. Very cozy and has everything you need for a short get away. This place was great for us since we mostly hike/snowshoe so really just needed somewhere to sleep/rest and they were pet friendly so fur balls were able to come along.
The cabin was located in an area close to places we enjoyed visiting. Lake Placid ,White Face mountain and many others . The cabin was comfortable and easily accessible.
We found the our requests were promptly answered and satisfied.
It was perfect for my 2 night stay when I went to Lake placid to finish up a hiking challenge. A++ for being dog friendly. Loved that it had a fireplace as well!
Just stayed one night before heading out on a hiking trip. The cabin was a perfect size for two people. Building a fire in the indoor fireplace was great! Restaurant on site was convenient.
