Winter transforms the area into a snowy playground, with groomed cross-country ski trails, pistes, winter hiking paths, and toboggan runs across multiple ski resorts. Popular local excursions include visits to the Christine slate mine, Ettelsberg cable car, Mühlenkopfschanze ski jump, Diemelsee lake, Bruchhauser Steine rock formations, Brilon town, Winterberg, and Waldeck Castle.
