The Lodge: Five blocks from Old Town and close to Intrust Arena

Our house has three bedrooms, one on the main floor and two upstairs. There are a total of 2 bathrooms. There is a full kitchen, large eating area, and a main floor family room. The entire place is decorated in a Hunting Lodge motif. You will feel comfortable in this relaxed environment.

As mentioned in the title, we are walking distance to Old Town restaurants and bars and also close to Intrust Arena. We are equally close to St. Francis and Wesley Hospitals and an easy drive to Wichita State University.

There are two other apartments on the premises that have their own access and entrance. Your space, however, is totally your own.

Cozy little place

We enjoyed our stay here. My husband, daughter, in laws, and I stayed here for our son’s graduation from Friends University. It was an older place but was kept up well. It had some nice character. We were able to do the cooking we needed to do there for the reception at a local church. There were a couple things that needed attention but an overall good stay.

Family trip

This is a great property for a family, especially a larger family to stay. We enjoyed the cabin feel and the layout is wonderful. The rec area, living, and dining area are open and it is great for entertaining. We would stay here again!

location is the real benefit of this property. It really needs some owner attention to the bathrooms and finishes. that said it was really convenient to seeing Wichita.

Gary is a great host!

The property is great! So much space. We had 12 people in there at one time and still had plenty of space! Gary was so sweet and checked on us in the middle of our stay! We made great memories for this Christmas and look forward to renting it again in the future!

Decent stay for the price

Good communication with property owner, but missing some useful items such as extra toilet paper in the bathrooms and hand soap at the sinks. Just make sure to bring absolutely everything you need because there’s not any extra stuff like toothbrushes , conditioner etc. it was a good price for the space, but also be mindful there’s an attached apartment to the top floor that I didn’t know when I booked and made me very uneasy with my teen daughters staying with me. They didn’t cause any ruckus, but I wouldn’t have booked if I had known that.

The host responded when we need just about anything. We did find some bugs and he came and sprayed. He was very helpful and attentive. However, shelves in the kitchen were dirty and the entire facility needed a deep clean. We probably won’t be back overall. It was a good day. The host was attentive to our needs and we appreciate that. It’s an older house. There are apartments that are in the upstairs back end of the building, which we were not aware of. He did also open up an additional room for us, which gave us additional room and it listed a game room which evidently does not exist.

Great place for family visiting college

Three adults stayed here to attend baseball games at Wichita State. Great location (though construction was happening in the neighborhood); considerate and friendly manager who lived right next door. The stay was comfortable and all was exactly as listed.

Down Town Vrbo

VRBO was centrally located to where I needed to travel during my stay. Nice location so I didn't have to travel far to any stores or locations. Plenty of Room in the VRBO. Pretty Quiet neighborhood. There were some people across the street that made some noise at 3 in the Morning. Other than that house was accommodating for what was needed. Owner was friendly. Would recommend if someone has events planned in down town Wichita

Thanksgiving 2024

I rented the VRBO for my Son and his kids for Thanksgiving. We had our family time including Thanksgiving dinner there since it was bigger than our place. It was a perfect place to gather to eat and visit. Gary was very accommodating. Will rent again.

Ideal location!

We moved our daughter into Friends university and this home was conveniently located minutes from the university. It was actually convenient to everything we did that weekend. Blocks away from great food and entertainment. The house was well prepared for guests and comfortable to relax in between moving her in and exploring the area. We will definitely be back for our visits with her.

Our Experience

This was our experience while we stayed here. The AC control wasn't given to us on the first day. After asking the owner about the AC on day two, he gave us control. On the third day, the AC went out due to being frozen, but the owner let us stay in another section of the rental property to alleviate the heat, which was very kind. On the first night, Thursday, nothing eventful happened. On the second night, Friday, a woman knocked on the door around 10 or 11pm, leaned up against the door for about 5 minutes, then knocked again. She then walked across the street in a hunched over position and talked to someone in a vehicle, then sat on the sidewalk near the house for 15 minutes or so, then left to another street. The third night, Saturday, a man knocked a couple time on the door at 1:30 in the morning. You can hear through the front window of the house, which is near the front door, and I heard him say "I'm going to unload on someone on this block" as he walked off the porch. The house is quite a bit older than it looks in the photos. Also, the description reads that there is a futon, which is supposed to be a couch that turns into a bed, however, the futon here, is just a couch. It is the couch in the photo of the living area.

Family fun for Thanksgiving

We were looking for a space that was centrally located for family who lives in the Wichita area, that could comfortably sleep my family and my sister's family (6 total), as well as host a Thanksgiving dinner for over 16 people. This place was perfect. It had 4 bedrooms, 2 dens with comfy couches/lounge chairs and tvs, 2 full kitchens, 2 dining tables and 3 bathrooms, so there was plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The furnace worked great, for a large house it was surprisingly comfortable. The water was hot for showers and dishes, everything was clean and well stocked. We didn't have to ask for anything. The dart board and foos table were the highlight of Thanksgiving, and we had a fun tournament. The host was wonderful and responsive to all inquiries. We had a small mishap with a dish that was provided by the VRBO, and he was very gracious about the incident and did not require any extra payment or replacement. There was a snowstorm the night before we had to leave, and the host shoveled the walkway before we were set to pack up and leave. Overall, we were all very pleased with this home and host, and if we are in the area again, we will be requesting to stay here. Highly recommend.
