Had a lovely weekend at the cabin, was looking for a quiet getaway from the busy day to day activities. The cabin was perfect, Had a relaxing time and would recommend if looking for the same.
The location was great, the beach area accommodated our pontoon very well. Great all sport lake. The grandkids loved the beach!
We made great memories!
Property has a spectacular view...and the host was extremely responsive! Small but beautiful lake.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The cabin was clean and well equipt and the host very courteous and helpful. The area has lots of great hiking trails. The cabin is built on a hillside near the lake and has a noticeable tilt, but seemed solid and we hope not in any structural risk, as it is a very nice place to stay.
Best week of relaxing! Enjoyed fishing every day and was elated to see my boys reel in the biggest bass I have ever seen. The cabin is cozy and comfy. My family enjoyed our stay there!! Nothing but smiles all week! I can’t wait to return!! Highly recommend!!
We normally go further North to see fall colors but this year we chose this VRBO to be on a lake to enjoy the tree colors. Colors were present on the trees and location on the lake was perfect. And this trip we got to bring our dog which was the 1st time for us which he enjoyed this trip as well. We had cousin/wife stay with us as well and perfect as each couple had their own floor. I'm sure we will talk about this trip for years to come.
Very cool. Felt like we were in a houseboat looking out over the lake. My only issue was walking the many stairs, but I am older and have bad knees. I highly recommend this for rest and relaxation
Christine was great. She even took a boat ride with us and told us all about the area. Downstairs was very private for my daughter, son in law, and 2 grandchildren. Whata beautiful location. We will be back!
We were looking for a quaint place to get away for springbreak 2024 and found this gem. Nice and quiet, snowed, miles hiked on the north country trail, and views of the lake from the hot tub. The little gas station around the corner had amazing pizza too. The ownees checked in on us and were great communicators. The place is small but it was a perfect fit for 2 adukts, 2 kida and a chocolate lab to sneak away and have lake front views.
Our family was very pleased with our stay at the Eagles nest. It was a very warm & cozy cabin with beautiful views of the lake. We enjoyed walking down to the beach with a cup of coffee & our dogs. Lots of memories made and our kids were asking when we could come back and sad to leave. It was my husband and sons first time hunting too so the Eagles Nest will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Highly recommend this place and they communicated wonderfully. Thank you for being an amazing host!
Beautiful lake lot with a lot of history. We walked and fig shed and golfed and “chilled”. Christine and her two kids were superb and very helpful. We enjoyed it and would do it again in a minute!
This place is as advertised. We highly recommend it. It’s clean and has what you may need in a vacation. We went in winter and it was warm and toasty inside. The host is extraordinarily accommodating. She even offered us to stay for a few hours after checkout time. Very considerate since it had been snowing from the day before. Beautiful view of frozen lake where people were ice fishing. Peaceful and quiet at night. We did not have any issue.
We went to Michigan to participate in a race in Grand Rapids. I ended up picking this cabin because it was in the lake and close enough to the race. It was the perfect set up for the eacape we were loking for. Our 3 year old loved everything about the lake and fishing (even though no fish were ever caught lol). House was as described and we had no issues while staying there. The host was very responsive and even checked in on us via text during the trip.

Won't be back
Odd property. Way way too many stairs for anyone who isn't athletic. The lake is beautiful when you finally get to sit down. The entire cottage seems to be tilted. No dishwasher. Just self soaping brush..Appears to be a work in progress.
The lake view was beautiful. Unfortunately due to weather we weren’t able to enjoy the beach or boating options, however it was the perfect size and access for our group. Fishing was awesome, bring gear to accommodate pike (caught 5!).
There is a tilt to the house, but nothing you shouldn’t expect with lake side property. Christine was very pleasant and responsive to text/call/email quickly.
Went up to celebrate my son’s 21st birthday. Both youngest kids had a half hour drive from Ferris State University. My oldest had to work in Big Rapids. My parents live an hour and ten minutes away. Perfect location on the lake to have a small gathering for a day. Hiking trails nearby. Spent a night alone in the peaceful morning waking up to a beautiful lake and breeze. Plan to return.
Pluses-Cozy with beautiful view. We sat out on the balcony and on the beach every day. Used the Paddle Boat and Kayaks. Negatives-the Acorn tree kept dropping Acorns which would hurt if they fell on you (or the dog)! The inside does slant a bit, but it didn’t really bother us. However…the cabin is not private. It sits right in front of 3 or 4 units that are up the hill who can see and hear everything from this cabin. Felt like we were on display for the others to sit and watch us. Luckily those other units were not all occupied during our stay. And lastly, the stairs that everyone else mentions. The worse part was unloading and loading the cars due to so many steps! Definitely got our workouts. Most likely won’t return but that’s just our opinion. Again it was beautiful and the host was wonderful.
Parents and two adult children stayed in the eagles nest. We stayed upstairs and our boys had the entire downstairs to themselves. It was clean and had recent updates. The host Christine is on site snd responded whenever we had a question. She was great! The entire grounds have recent updates and are well kept. Even the beach had been raked when we arrived. We rented a pontoon boat from Christine and were able to enjoy the entire lake. Enjoyed the hot tub, swam, built a fire. Nice mix of sun and shade on the property. Even though there are multiple rentals on the property we never felt like other guests were too close to us. Awesome stay!
The Eagles Nest at the Blue Heron Resort on Diamond Lake is not for everyone but we loved it. I say not for everybody in part because you need to take a series of stairs including nearly 30 steps to reach the cabin from the parking space provided. While we (both in our 70's) didn't have a problem, others may well prefer few stairs. The cabin is also not fancy or modern and has a few quirks including a noticeable slant towards the lake. But all that being said, the Eagle's Nest had everything we wanted and needed and more. It was clean and cozy. The beds were comfortable. It was well equipped for the several meals we prepared and ate at the cottage. It had a nice hot tub right outside the door. It came with the free use of kayaks. It was quiet and peaceful (being there in May no doubt helped with that as there were only a few boats on the lake and no guests at the resort's other building which sits on a bluff overlooking the Eagle's Nest cabin). And finally, the views of the lake from both inside the cabin and especially from the attached deck were stunning and included some beautiful sunrises. We spent plenty of time just sitting, relaxing and looking....taking it all in....the beauty, the peace, the quiet....all from what is appropriately named the Eagle's Nest.
The property grounds were beautiful and well-maintained. The terraced yard was perfect for us and our 2 dogs. We had our own private, lush, green lawn for them. There were various shared areas; a grotto (a tucked away cozy spot to watch the lake, play cards etc), comfortable fire pit area, relaxing hot tub (again with a great view of the lake).
The lake was the ideal size for us to kayak and the property was situated on a desireable part of the lake with no lily pads, just beautiful sun rises. Diamond Lake is an overall quiet lake, just what we were looking for, with “no wake” restrictions at certain hours. Plenty of kayaks always available and a pontoon to rent (maybe next time 🙂) Our Eagles Nest cabin was as described. Cozy and comfortable with the deck overlooking the lake being the crown jewel. We spent most of our time here under the beautiful trees in the morning, and enjoying the sun in the afternoon. It the evening, when the landscaping lighting came on, the ambience was amazing!
If I have to find a negative, and it wasn't for us but it was a surprise, there are a lot of steps, so just be prepared. The lower level had a slight musty smell, but once we turned on the dehumidifier it was gone. It was also not as clean as the main level. We took a day trip to Pentwater and Ludington one day, and at the owners recommendation to a nearby wildflower sanctuary. 👍The owners were above and beyond welcoming, and attentive and truly made our stay enjoyable. Will return!
We loved staying here. It’s a very private nice cabin to stay in. Loved the beach access right outside our cabin. Our dogs absolutely loved it. And the hot tub was a hit for the teen girls. We will be back. And the pontoon rental was easy and convenient
