True getaway from everything!
Fantastic romantic retreat in the middle of nature. Loved the extra large bath and outdoor shower, but the amount of stars to see at night is just beautiful! A true disconnect from everything to relax, read and take in the amazing scenery.

Adventure house
We were craving some isolation, some lush family time, and this place was perfection. I only wish we'd stayed longer! My toddler loved sitting on the deck watching the bees in the rosemary and walking down to visit the dog.

Off grid escape
We loved breathing in the bush air from the porch or the outdoor shower, cosying up to the fire reading a book, having a romantic bath and getting away from the screens! A lovely relaxing stay and we will definitely be back.

We stayed at the stone cottage before and loved it so much that we treated our sister and brother-in-law to a birthday weekend away. They did not want to leave. The cottage is perfect in any weather, sunny or not, rainy or not, stormy or not…highly recommended!!

We had a lovely relaxing 2 nights here. Enjoyed the local walks into the valley with the local dog Charlie. The quietness with the river in the background was perfect. Really enjoyed the outside shower even when it was drizzling. Lovely friendly hosts too. Perfect stay

Get away from the rat race in this cosy cottage. Well appointed but NO internet or mobile phone or TV (YAY!!!). This is the ultimate "green prescription". Bush views, walks, exhilarating outdoor shower, log burner, comfy bed. But if you cannot go cold turkey, then civilisation is just a short 25 minute drive away. And if you are willing, then Charlie the cool laid-back dog will happily spend time with you too!

Just magnificent !
We stayed for two nights on a wet and stormy winter’s weekend. We were greeted by the gorgeous pup Charlie and the owner Susie, who already put the fire on to welcome us in this treasure of a cottage, miles away from it all. The cottage has a lot of Charme upon arrival and gets even better once inside. We felt home instantly, and feel that it is not just perfect for a wet and windy weekend but also in any type of weather. Very private and memorable stay. Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage with the world. We will be back.

Gem of a Bach
Such a great location, and the cottage perfectly suited to a restful week in some Bush seclusion; a delightful mix of 'the old' and 'the new', with its double-burner range and electric lights. Very charming hosts, who went out of their way to provide for all our needs. For future reference - shifting the fire/smoke alarm further from the cooking stove would avoid repeated alarms!

Dream stay
This cottage is cozy, comfortable and lovely to stay in. Set in a beautiful valley, surrounded by native bush, a beautiful spot at the bottom of the property with a stream and river bed, perfect for kids to play in, nature walks nearby and a very friendly and adorable dog to hand out with. The fire was amazing and the beds super comfortable. Appreciated the coffee. One of our best holidays. Fantastic hosts. Much appreciated.

A beautiful setting for a gorgeous cottage with everything we needed.
Wonderful place to unwind and relax (as much as possible with an almost 3 year old). Comfortable beds, great selection of magazines and reading material and a great kitchen to cook in. We appreciated the coffee and muesli provided. We visited the river several times and our wee one delighted in throwing stones into the river. Thank you Susie and Kerry.

Lots of character
The cottage was full of charm and quirkyness, loved all the handmade features and use of wood and stone. The outdoor shower was a novelty but a shame the water pressure wasn't a bit better as it made it a bit cold showering out there during our stay. Really appreciated having nice coffee provided for the stovetop espresso, lucky we bought our own milk though as none was supplied and would have been about a 40minute round trip to get some. Overall, a nice quiet spot for a relaxing couple of days.

The fact that we rely on technology so much,being in Nature was beautiful and the cottage gave us that peace and tranquility that we need,loved the open shower where you shower under nature’s conditions which was an unique experience,horses were beautiful,loved patting and feeding apples to one of the horses in the paddock.Overall I would love to come here against.😀😀😀

Than you Kieran and Suzie. What a great location. Exactly what we were looking for. No interruptions, no pressure to do anything, just enjoy the day and the stay. Beatfully rustic, warm and comfortable. Great access to Tararuas and bush walking tracks, definitely worth the effort for the views and bush. The Keraru population appears to be flourishing, Hope that all goes well with your Saffron.

Cosy cottage in peaceful setting
This is the place to go to to experience peace and tranquillity. Free from sound and light pollution. It was so lovely to arrive at a warm and cosy cottage. Peace and tranquility..this was the perfect place to chill and unwind. The fire was burning whn i got there...so it was warm and cosy. No tv or cell phone service, so it was perfect..a chance to get away from the busy hustle and bustle..a beautiful rustic cottage. Perfect place to just stop and breathe.

Really enjoyed our stay thanks.
We really enjoyed the peace and beauty of this valley. Especially enjoyed sitting on deck eating breakfast while looking out on the mist shrouded hills, or looking at the starry sky at night which was not marred by light polution. Cottage was warm and comfortable and very clean. Comfortable beds. The bath is lovely but it took us 2 hours to run due to water pressure and hot water running cold every so often - but that is the only downside. Owners are lovely, friendly and easy to deal with. Would happily stay again.

Beautiful , tranquil getaway
The surrounding countryside of hills and the river make this an amazing location for a quiet getaway. The property is rustic and homely, and the lack of TV/wifi was actually a real positive. It is well equipped and the outdoor shower was a nice experience (though perhaps wouldn’t be in the middle of winter!). It is an ideal spot for a romantic getaway, and while there is a second bedroom, is probably not particularly suited for small children. 1 of our 2 nights was very windy which was a bit disturbing, but mostly it was calm and tranquil. A beautiful spot, which I’d be happy to recommend!

Thanks Alison - funnily enough, transfer from lounging in the hot inside tub to then dousing in a hot and private outside shower in mid-winter is exhilarating - even in snow and wind!

Was such a wonderful tidy house, no cellphone receiption enabled us to get back to basics and truely escape the city. Loved the fire, it was raining the whole time so had a nice cozy time playing games, drinking wine and sitting by the fire.
