About this property

2 Miles to Going-to-the-Sun Road - Glacier NP – 8 Private Wooded Acres – Hot Tub

  • Welcome to Three Bear Basecamp

Thank you for considering our home for your Glacier National Park vacation.

Finding a home this close to Glacier National Park's West Entrance—with the privacy of eight wooded acres, room for families and larger groups, and the comforts of home—is surprisingly rare. We've always tried to create a place where families can spend less time driving and more time experiencing Glacier together.

We've always believed Glacier National Park is one of those rare places that stays with you long after you've returned home. The mountains, lakes, and rivers are spectacular, of course, but it's often the quieter moments that families remember most—a child spotting wildlife for the first time, everyone laughing around the fire after dinner, coffee on the deck before the rest of the house wakes up, birdsong, a gentle breeze through the trees, aspen leaves dancing overhead, or simply slowing down for a while.

That's the kind of experience we've tried to create at Three Bear Basecamp.

Our home sits on eight private wooded acres approximately two miles from Glacier National Park's West Entrance. It's close enough that heading into the park for sunrise, coming home for lunch, or making one more evening drive along Going-to-the-Sun Road is easy. At the same time, it's tucked back among the trees in a quiet wooded neighborhood where the pace of life naturally slows.

Many guests tell us that pulling into the driveway feels like taking a deep breath after a full day of exploring. Several have even shared that they spent more time inside Glacier simply because coming and going was so easy.

Many of our guests are visiting Glacier for the very first time. Others are returning because they fell in love with the park decades ago. We truly enjoy welcoming both and sharing this special corner of Montana with them.

One of the things people appreciate most about staying here is simply having more time. Less time driving. Less time sitting in traffic. More time hiking, watching wildlife, sharing meals, or simply being together. It's a small difference on the map, but it often becomes one of the biggest advantages of the week.

Three Bear Basecamp was thoughtfully designed with families and friends in mind. The home comfortably sleeps up to 12 guests, always in real beds—never sofa sleepers or futons. There are inviting places to gather, along with quiet corners to read, soak in the hot tub, enjoy the forest views, or simply listen to the sounds of the seasons.

The kitchen is truly the heart of the home. We enjoy cooking, so we've equipped it the way we'd want our own family kitchen to be equipped. Whether you're packing lunches before an early hike or preparing dinner after a day in Glacier, you'll find the tools you need. Guests often tell us it's one of the best-stocked kitchens they've experienced in any vacation home.

Meals here tend to be relaxed and wonderfully informal. Six gather around the kitchen island while others enjoy the elevated deck table overlooking the forest or one of several outdoor dining areas. During Montana summers, families naturally drift between the decks, the yard, and the fire pit, keeping conversations going long after dinner is over.

One of our favorite parts of every Glacier day is coming home.

Someone starts the grill. Someone else gets the fire going. Kids disappear to play while the adults catch up on the day's adventures. Before long, everyone finds their way back together.

The lower-level bunkhouse has become a favorite with many families. Kids especially love the loft spaces, and parents appreciate having flexible sleeping arrangements that give everyone a little room of their own while still feeling connected.

The seasons each bring something a little different. Wild strawberries, hummingbirds often appear in May, Robins nest are built and beargrass blooms in June, huckleberries and thimbleberries ripen later in July, and August brings colorful wildflowers around the property. Spring and fall often bring elk quietly moving through the woods. Throughout the summer, mornings begin with birdsong, and for many years mother deer have chosen these woods to give birth and raise their fawns. Guests often share stories of spotting deer, foxes—including the occasional cross fox—pine martens, owls, and other wildlife during their stay. Wildlife is never guaranteed, which makes every sighting feel that much more special.

One thing we've learned is that no two Glacier vacations are ever exactly alike.

Glacier changes from season to season. Road access, wildlife closures, weather, construction projects, and park operations can all influence your plans.

One of our favorite parts of hosting is helping families make the most of whatever Glacier brings during their stay. Whether you're traveling with young children, grandparents, experienced hikers, or first-time visitors, we're happy to share ideas based on your family's interests and what's happening in the park that week. We don't believe there's one perfect Glacier itinerary. Every family is different, and we think every Glacier vacation should be too.

Guests often mention many of the same things in their reviews: how close the home is to Glacier National Park, how peaceful it feels after a busy day in the park, how well-equipped the kitchen is, spotting wildlife around the property, and how much they appreciated our local recommendations and having someone available to answer questions before and during their stay.

Those comments probably mean more to us than anything else.

We've never wanted Three Bear Basecamp to feel like just another vacation rental. We simply hope it's a place where families reconnect, make wonderful memories together, and leave with an even deeper appreciation for Glacier National Park and this beautiful corner of Montana.

If that sounds like the kind of Glacier vacation you're hoping for, we'd be honored to welcome you.

    Bringing the Whole Family?

One of the advantages of having 8 private wooded acres is the flexibility it provides.

For select multigenerational gatherings, we may be able to accommodate one self-contained RV on the property by prior arrangement (additional fee and subject to all applicable Flathead County Short-Term Rental regulations).

This option has been especially helpful for families who appreciate having grandparents, adult cousins or another family unit nearby while still enjoying a little extra privacy. The RV accommodation is available only in conjunction with a Three Bear Basecamp reservation, requires advance approval, and is thoughtfully positioned so it does not impact the home's guest amenities or large outdoor gathering spaces.

If this might be a good fit for your family, we'd be happy to discuss the details before you book.

    A Few Practical Notes:

    * Approximately 2 miles from Glacier National Park's West Entrance and Going-to-the-Sun Road.
    * Sleeps up to 12 guests in real beds—never sofa sleepers or futons.
    * Eight private wooded acres in a quiet neighborhood.
    * Optional use of the premium hot tub (additional cleaning fee).
    * Outdoor kitchen, fire pits, elevated deck, and multiple outdoor dining and gathering areas.
    * Fast Wi-Fi throughout the property.
    * Central air conditioning.
    * Reverse-osmosis drinking water with softened water throughout the home.
    * Whole-house backup generator.
    * We intentionally welcome only about a dozen families each year, allowing us to thoughtfully prepare the home and provide a more personal guest experience.

    Property & Privacy:

For guest safety and transparency, exterior security cameras monitor only the driveway and exterior entry areas. There are no cameras inside the home or in any private guest spaces.
An owner RV and maintenance equipment are stored behind fencing on a distant portion of the property and may occasionally be used during the summer season. This area is completely separate from guest spaces, with no shared amenities or outdoor living areas. Your privacy is always respected.

Thank you again for considering Three Bear Basecamp. If you have questions about the home—or about planning your Glacier National Park vacation—we're always happy to help. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome your family to Three Bear Basecamp and this special corner of Montana.

Please feel free to reach out with any questions or to request a virtual tour link.

Montana Memories

Our stay at Three Bears Basecamp was simply amazing! Patty is a most gracious host and reached out throughout our stay to make sure we were happy. Glacier National Park did not disappoint. The weather was perfect and the scenery unforgettable. This house is only 3 miles from the west entrance making our visits easy and frequent. It is beautifully furnished with love and very comfortable. We are regular VRBO renters and this is, by far, our favorite stay.

Highly Recommend 100%

The property is amazing, incredibly well appointed and well stocked with everything we needed: kitchenware, water bottles, games, outdoor kitchen/grill, Little Martin guitar!! and more, too much to list all! Everything pristine condition and super clean. Great location, just a few miles to W. Glacier village and 15-20 min to Apgar visitor center. Very peaceful location with lots of deer and other wildlife. Patty and John are incredibly friendly, helpful and responsive hosts. Definitely recommend!

AMAZING Stay!

I can't say enough about how wonderful it was to stay at 3BB! Fantastic amenities: culligan water filter for all our water bottles to carry into the park, an incredibly stocked kitchen, beautiful comfortable fire pits (with wood), comfortable beds, a fantastic grill for steaks we bought at a farmer's market, and a well appreciated house generator (there was bad weather one night where power for everyone else around us was out for 3+ hours... we never lost power). Patty is an amazing host and gave such thoughtful and appreciated suggestions to make our stay even more comfortable. And, so close to Glacier! Best VRBO we have ever stayed at - thanks again for sharing your home with us!

Luxury accommodation near Glacier Park

Beautiful, comfortable, and very well equipped house just outside Glacier Park. Most of the accommodations near Glacier are pretty basic, so this is a special find if you are looking for something with all the comforts of home. The location is great—just a few miles from the park entrance—but feels very secluded and private. The house is one of the most well equipped I’ve ever stayed at: everything you need for cooking, food storage, extra bedding, towels, blankets, games, bug and bear spray, and baby essentials (great for us as we were traveling with a 10 month old). Patty sent lots of helpful information and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. We loved enjoying the cool weather in the mornings and evenings on the patio and in the hammocks. Highly recommend!

Amazing Glacier Experience

The best way to do Glacier National Park! The house was perfect for our family vacation with 3 families,11 people. The location, just outside of the park, was perfect for a pop-in or a full day of adventure! The hosts have thought of absolutely everything, from cooking gear, to outdoor kids games, to the perfect place to relax, to even including beach towels with bags for wet gear after a float down the river! The front porch was great for gathering, the fire pit perfect for smores, there was plenty of space to hang out together or to separate if a little quiet time was needed. In addition to the amazing house, the host also provided so many helpful tips and info about how to do Glacier! It was definitely a family vacation to remember!!!

Trip of a Lifetime! - Honeymoon Glacier

Spending a week in mid-October at the 3 Bear Basecamp blew our expectations out of the water. The slower pace of the park in the fall, and the fact that 3BB is just minutes from the west entrance, allowed us to maximize our time in Glacier while still having adequate time to wind down in the evenings and enjoy all the amenities of 3BB. The beautiful cozy living room, fully equipped kitchen, hot tub, and upper deck fire pit were some of our favorites. Watching the sunrise in the morning and full moon by night from the upper deck were moments that we will always treasure. Patty was an incredible hostess, providing hike recommendations and personalized tips that allowed us to get the most out of our Glacier experience. Cool temperatures, golden aspen and cottonwoods, and the peaceful stillness of snowcapped mountains (with mountain goats!) completely captured our hearts. We can’t wait to come back!!

Absolutely amazing place to enjoy the natural beauty of Montana!

Three Bear Basecamp definitely lived up to its name as being the perfect basecamp to come back to after daily adventures in Glacier National Park or any of the countless activities the area provides. Being so close to the park entrance (2 mi /5 minutes) was clutch for making night trips into the park to take in some stellar star gazing. The attention to detail throughout the property was outstanding with beautiful woodwork, decor, amenities, cleanliness, and furnishings that were both comfortable and complementary of the surrounding area. Having reliable and fast WiFi internet throughout the property was super helpful when planning activities, uploading pictures, or needing to participate in a remote meeting. TV’s in all the rooms, two fire pits, and multiple outdoor seating areas made it easy to relax. Patty was an awesome host answering any questions and providing some great tips on places to explore! Can’t wait to return again to enjoy this property and the natural beauty & adventure that Glacier National Park and this area provides!

5 Stars All Around!!

Look no further, hands down, Three Bear Basecamp wins in every way!! The house is beautifully appointed, luxurious and carried all the amenities (and more) for our family of five. The hosts, Patty and John were so accommodating, communicative and helpful during the reservation process. So much so, they gave us countless recommendations for dining, grocery shopping and hikes in the park! The location is absolutely perfect. Situated just a few minutes from Glacier National Park and a short trip from the airport and main highways, it minimized the time getting in and out of the park and heading into Whitefish and Columbia Falls. Central to everything, it made navigating the area a breeze. The home itself is on an amazing, large property, where you won’t be disturbed by tourists or cars. It was filled with wildlife, natural landscape and added charm like water features to give it a tranquil feel. We took walks, played and ate outside, had campfires and truly embraced the outdoors with the home’s modern amenities. It was the perfect family getaway for us and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We will never forget Three Bear Basecamp! Thank you Patty and John!

There simply couldn’t be a better place to stay while visiting Glacier National Park. This home has it all — an unbeatable location, total comfort, thoughtful details, and truly wonderful hosts.First, the location is ideal. It’s less than 2 miles from Going-to-the-Sun Road and just a 5-minute drive to the west entrance of Glacier — as close as you can get without actually staying inside the park. Being that close made every day’s adventure easy and stress-free.Second, the home is tucked into peaceful, wooded surroundings, offering both privacy and beauty. We saw deer almost every day, and the natural setting made it feel like a true retreat.Third, the house itself is stunning — new, modern, impeccably clean, and filled with thoughtful custom touches. It’s beautifully decorated and stocked with everything you could possibly need, making it feel like a real home away from home.Fourth, the amenities bring a sense of laid-back luxury that perfectly complements the Montana vibe. From the cozy interiors to the well-equipped kitchen and outdoor spaces, everything was top-notch.And finally, the hosts were outstanding. They shared so much helpful advice — from how to navigate the park and get road passes, to the best local spots for rafting, horseback riding, restaurants, galleries, and more. It’s clear they genuinely care about helping guests have the best experience possible. In short, this place is a gem. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay!

The Perfect Combo: Amazing Location and Unbeatable Comfort

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Three Bear Basecamp and it was absolutely perfect! The property’s location, just outside the West Entrance, is ideal for anyone looking to explore the beauty of Glacier and it possesses the tranquility of a much more secluded spot. The cabin itself was immaculate, blending rustic charm with modern amenities. It was spacious, beautifully decorated, and fully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need, making it easy to prepare meals, and the cozy living room with its large windows was the perfect spot to relax after a long day on a trail or in the kayak. The outdoor space was just as incredible. There was a fire pit where we gathered in the evenings to roast smores and enjoy the stars, and the deck was a great place to sip our morning coffee while listening to the sounds of nature. The location was close enough to Glacier that we could easily spend the day hiking and exploring, but far enough away from the crowds that we felt like we had our own private retreat. Our hosts were extremely thoughtful and responsive, providing detailed recommendations for local activities and ensuring our stay was nothing short of fantastic. They even left some thoughtful touches like a welcome basket with local goodies, which made us feel right at home. If you're looking for a perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and natural beauty, this is the place to stay. We can’t wait to return!

Absolutely Exceptional Stay – Perfect for Family Gatherings and Glacier Adventures!

Stunning property for our family & it truly exceeded every expectation. We originally booked it for the unbeatable location (2 miles from the West entrance) & the complete privacy/peacefulness—but it turned out to be so much more than just a place to stay. The home is beautifully maintained & incredibly well-appointed. We felt instantly at ease with thoughtful touches: extra throws & blankets (even outdoor ones!), hot tub towels, hammocks, & a large kitchen stocked with everything needed for easy, fun meal prep. It doesn’t feel like a rental. The hosts even gave great local vendor recs for farm-to-table ingredients that gave our meals a Montana flair. When weather turned, the hosts went above & beyond—offering personalized suggestions, activities & tips tailored to our group’s interests & energy. Their guidance helped us make the most of every moment—from custom hike ideas to secret Glacier star-gazing & sunset spots (though our best star photos were right from the property!), plus smart ways to enjoy even the most popular trails. One family group stayed comfortably in an RV on-property. We had more than enough space to gather, relax & enjoy each other without feeling crowded. Lots of wildlife viewing from the decks. birdsong every morning & evening. Wildflowers everywhere. SO peaceful. Couldn’t have asked for a better Glacier base—private, peaceful, & hosted with genuine care. We’ll be talking about this trip for years. Can’t recommend it enough!
We loved this place and apparently wildlife does too!
The host texted an App alert and saw the Northern Lights from the driveway!
Huge fire pit with firewood provided!

Highly Recommend Three Bear Basecamp!

I highly recommend Three Bear Basecamp! The location is ideal, just a few minutes from the entrance to Glacier National Park, and short drive to Kalispell and Whitefish. Yet you feel secluded in a quiet rural neighborhood, surrounded by woods, wildlife and scenic mountains in the distance! There is so much to explore in this area, yet you will find it hard to leave such comfortable lodging. It will exceed your expectations for a luxury northwest Montana cabin! It is tastefully decorated and fully stocked with every amenity you could possibly need. We enjoyed drinking our coffee on the deck in the morning and coming back after a full day of hiking to soak in the hot tub! The hosts truly went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. We brought a couple friends and our one-year-old with us. They provided basic baby things like a safety gate for the stairs, a highchair and children's books/toys. This is a location that the whole family will enjoy! Three Bear Basecamp gets 5-stars from us! Reach out to Patty if you need any recommendations or tips for hiking and exploring the Park. She knows every trail by name! My friends were able to drive over to Lake McDonald one night (just a few minutes away!) and catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. 3B Basecamp is your ticket to enjoy the wild majesty of West Glacier with all the comforts of home!

Simply Amazing

You simply can’t go wrong staying here. There are so many things to love about staying at Three Bear Basecamp. The home is amazingly clean, new and beautifully appointed with countless custom touches that provide comfort, convenience and luxury. The owners have literally thought of everything and incorporated it into this home. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to cook – both inside and outside. It even had large hot/cold thermoses for our use to take coffee and hot cocoa into the park in early mornings and late evenings. Both decks are amazing for seeing the stars or just relaxing, and the main deck is gigantic, extending the living space and making the home seem even larger than it is. Having strong and consistent internet was great for when I needed to get work done while in Montana, and the WIFI coverage both inside and inside the home was perfect. The home couldn’t be closer to the park, but on a small road of homes, all of which are on very large pieces of land, which makes the property amazingly quiet, peaceful and private. But the best thing about staying at Three Bear was the trip-planning help provided by the hosts/owners. Their knowledge of Glacier and the surrounding area, what to do, what trails to hike and lots of tips that helped us make the most of our limited time the Glacier area. You can tell they love this place and enjoy hosting and helping their guests enjoy what is truly one of the most amazing places on earth.

A stay worthy of family-time in Glacier!

We wish we had discovered 3BB earlier! We've been to GNP several times and this stay took our family vacation together to the next level. Being SO close to the park allowed us to pop in for a sunrise, sunsets and even the Northern Lights! We first spotted the Aurora Borealis dancing from the 3BB northern deck! With two decks, hammocks, summer kitchen, fantastic top-tier hot tub, porch swings....there were so many comfy places inside and out for our family to relax and converse. Btw, the super-fast wi-fi was even available around the huge outdoor wood-burning fire pit. The bunkhouse luxury glamping vibe was also a huge hit! Hanging out, playing games & star-gazing around the front deck fire pit was our favorite post-hike activity. Speaking of hikes, the host was like having our own personal travel consultant. They were quick to answer any and all questions & provided amazing tips and suggestions based on our travel goals. They introduced us to a few new tricks / places even though we have visited Glacier before. They even provide a phone consultation with us when we asked if that was possible. Just - WOW! Since discovering Three Bear Basecamp, the basic accommodations most often found this close to Glacier just won't do. This place feels like home and has everything and beyond for a quiet, enjoyable, comfortable stay and quick access into Glacier or into the valley for other activities. The kids did not want to leave. We could not recommend 3BB more.

Our stay at 3 Bears Base Camp was perfect. The property was well located near the west entrance to Glacier National Park. The accommodations were beautiful and could not have been cleaner or better equipped. It had everything we needed and more. The home is beautiful with wonderful finishes, comfortable furnishings and welcome beds after a long day of hiking. We found good restaurants nearby and even cooked dinner in one night to enjoy the decks and peaceful surroundings and relax at 3 Bears Base Camp. Patty was a wonderful host and provided excellent resources and advice for exploring GNP. I highly recommend this property for a family and/or adult couples looking for a fun and relaxing property well located near GNP.

Three Bears Basecamp is a great homebase for exploring Glacier National Park! The hosts are friendly and responsive, and provided concierge level assistance when planning a trip here. We were impressed with the beautiful private woodland surrounding the property. They have great amenities like a picnic pavilion, outdoor kitchen and grill, hot tub, fire pits and cozy outdoor living spaces. The inside is spacious and the pictures don’t do it justice! It’s even better in person! It’s lovely and tastefully decorated, just what you would expect for a place in Montana. The kitchen is well equipped to make gourmet meals for the entire family. The bunkbeds for the kids are so much fun! Only 1 mile from the West Glacier entrance, this place is ideally located to go back and forth into the park as well as to all the family friendly activities available nearby. I can see us spending year after year in this gem of a place! Thanks to the owners for providing this unique and comfy place where we got to create memories with the family! We will be back!

A fantastic place to relax and a wonderful base to explore Glacier National Park! My husband and I recently spent five days with a group of friends at Three Bear Basecamp. What a unique property! The owners have made this place feel like you’re arriving at a nature lodge but with every convenience you would desire. There is AC (although mostly not needed), WIFI, TVs (did not use because so much else to do), everything you want in the kitchen, a fire pit, a hot tub (great for after a long hike), and other extras too numerous to list. There are also plenty of outdoor patio and cooking options for enjoying the cool evenings and a lot of fun space for the kiddos to play outside, including a swing set and playhouse. If you’re lucky, you’ll even see the deer that regularly wander through Three Bear Basecamp! We could tell how much thought went into choosing every detail, including the artwork, which portrays beautiful vistas and the amazing history of this part of Montana. If you’re there to explore Glacier National Park (and who wouldn’t be) you will not find a better jumping off point. Less than two miles from Going to the Sun Road at the west entrance into Glacier National Park. We were there in minutes. This, combined with the host’s help as we put together our plans for our visit, allowed us to make the very most of our time in and around Glacier.

Exceptional Hosts, Perfect Location, Unforgettable Experience

This was our 5th visit to Glacier National Park, but our first time staying with John and Patty—and it transformed our Montana experience! Located just a couple of miles from the park entrance, their property offers the perfect blend of convenience and comfort for families wanting to maximize their Glacier adventure.John and Patty have been available with recommendations throughout the entire year, not just during our stay! Patty's advice was invaluable for booking jammer bus tours, whitewater rafting, and guided fly fishing—her specific suggestions made all the difference. From age-appropriate books to the playhouse and swing set that delighted our granddaughter, to letting us pick huckleberries from their patch (which we turned into pancakes, muffins, and steak glaze!), every detail was thoughtful. The space was perfect for three generations, including our daughter-in-law's first Glacier experience! Being so close to the park entrance meant we could easily pop back for meals, naps, or regrouping before more adventures. This proximity made traveling with our 11-month-old granddaughter so much easier and allowed our family to truly relax together.John and Patty go beyond just providing accommodation; they curate an authentic Montana experience. Their deep knowledge and genuine care elevated our family vacation from great to absolutely magical. We've stayed in many places over our multiple visits to Glacier, but none compare to the hospitality and thoughtful touches here!

Perfect Family Retreat Just Minutes from Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park was the highlight of our family of seven’s (5 kids ages 3 – 12) cross-country road trip, thanks in large part to the comfort, amenities, trip planning help, and convenience provided by Three Bear Basecamp. The location couldn’t be better. It’s so close to the west entrance of Glacier that we could pop into the park for a quick sunset drive or a little stargazing. The property is incredibly peaceful—perfect for unwinding after a big day on the trails. We loved grilling out while watching a mama deer and her two fawns wander by. The kids had a blast with the swing set, sandbox, playhouse, and other toys, while adults appreciated the hot tub under the stars.A lot of thought went into the design of the home giving it so many thoughtful touches and “soft spaces” inside and out—places to gather as a family, but also spots to retreat, read a book, pick huckleberries, or just have a little quiet time. Its great WiFi (even outside) made it easy to stay connected with work when needed.John and Patty were full of fantastic suggestions for making the most of our time in the park and for other stops on our road trip. They even helped us snag tickets to the Logan Pass Star Party! It’s so clear they truly care about their guests having the best possible experience, and their hospitality made a great trip even better. We’re already talking about visiting again. This place is a gem. Thank you for everything!
