"I stayed here last year at the same time, and things were much better. I have a feeling there is poor management; it was obvious employee morale was way down, and it showed in the condition of the property and the attitudes of the staff. For example, the rooms appeared clean, but not maintained. The sheets and beds were clean and made, but the rooms were dusty, had stains on the bathroom wall, and the tub was hardly cleaned at all. And the plumbing was obviously getting bandaid fixes; we had to figure out how to get the toiled to flush all the way. The staff was very friendly if we approached them, but they were clearly not happy; they seldom smiled and never were the first to address guests. And they were just doing their own jobs instead of being proactive. For example, there was a coffee spill at the bottom of the stairs to the lobby, and nobody even acknowledged it till I pointed it out to the front desk clerk. Not sure if it got mopped or not. And the stairs DESPERATELY needed vacuuming. I am guessing the place is understaffed, too. Also, a personal frustration was that my whole floor reeked of marijuana. I am not shaming anyone, but clearly people were vaping in the rooms and nobody was enforcing the rules. We had to keep airing out our room. Yes, this is a budget hotel, but even budget travelers deserve better care than this. To cause so many problems in just a year that were not there before, I suspect there is a toxic work environment that needs to be addressed."

"Arrived 3/7 for one-night stay before a youth sports camp the next day. Iowa City was overrun with drunk college kids for some “pub crawl” event- despite that, we were given a warm welcome and assurances that if guests were disruptive, we could call front desk and police would intervene. Room was comfortable. I paid extra to have “breakfast included” in our stay. We were paying for two adults and one teen to stay in the room, so imagine my surprise when they told me only two breakfasts were included (not what hotels.com advertises). I was given a third voucher when I pressed them…but when we took our breakfast vouchers over to their cafe, it turns out they have a SPECIAL voucher for Expedia/hotels.com- and only ONE item is covered. So, it’s really a discount- not a “breakfast included.” Also, their espresso machine was broken - so only drip coffee or cold brew available and you’d be paying for it-their VERY limited breakfast menu was also inaccurate. You can get a breakfast burrito or a bagel or an avocado toast- no fruit or sides to go with it. Definitely doesn’t feel like a full breakfast. French toast is the only sweet offering, but they don’t actually have that. They admitted that they should “really take it off the menu.” This was almost the most expensive place we could have stayed, and I’m not sure we’d go back. The rooms are nice, but price is high and not much of a breakfast. Parking costs extra. I’m a Hilton Honors member- it did nothing for me here. Cafes nearby."

"Parking was good, my key didn't work the first time but got fixed, and some weird stains on the bedskirt. And the freezer had some debris in it."

"Room was nice & clean. Friendly staff. Hotel is right downtown which is convenient but also attracts a young clientele so it’s rowdy. I was awake from 2:30 am & on due to 2 rooms of very loud parties. Not a lot of soundproofing so you can hear everything. Hotel staff did what they could but they ended up having to call the police. "

"Pool was great, floor in pool was dirty and not cleaned next day. Room was nice, you can tell it’s an updated older property and that’s fine. During our stay the pool bar and other areas seemed to be closed. Breakfast food was average or below for our kids, smaller selection. All that aside, we enjoyed the room and would stay again. "
