Stay at Papoose Pond
This house had everything we needed for a great family vacation. The location is lovely, quite secluded in the woods, and right next to a pond. We were there in February and skied at Mt. Abrams and Sunday River, which are both nearby. In the evenings we enjoyed relaxing by the big fireplace in the living room, and cooking in the fully-stocked kitchen. The owner was very kind and provided lots of information and suggestions of things to do in the area. No complaints at all. We would like to come back in warmer weather to do some hiking and to enjoy the pond. Thank you for everything!

The cabin was super cute and cozy! And the owner was so kind and had great communication! Only complaint would be the cleanliness- some rooms were quite dusty and had some trash on the floor under one of the beds. But otherwise, 4 stars!

Great Place!
Clean, true to the description, friendly, responsive owners, well stocked. Suggestion to visitors: go to the Gem and Mineral Museum in Bethel. It is world class. Note for older visitors: There are no safety bars in either shower.

Spacious house
This house had room for 10 people. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and the kitchen had all the essentials you would need in it. The owners gave lots of information about things to do and see in the area, gave excellent directions to the house and were available to answer any questions you had. We had a wedding to go to and we were very happy that it was located within 8 minutes of the property. We had a great long weekend there.

We had a wedding in the area so we found this spot. It was a cool cabin right on the water. Wish we had more time to enjoy it as it was a beautiful secluded area.

Perfect Little Get Away
Tiny pond but the peacefulness was just what we wanted. No neighbors! The camp was big enough for parents, children and grandkids to visit. Small beach but sandy spot for little ones. We would definitely go there again ♥️

Great Lake Cabin
What an amazing little gem of a cabin on a lake close to a great little downtown with quality food and friendly people! Property manager gave us a call shortly after we arrived and made sure we were satisfied with the property. Lake is nice and quiet with plenty of sights to see as you swim, canoe and kayak. It truly is “the way life should be!!!”

Great weekend getaway for ski trip
The house was great for our weekend ski trip to Sunday River. The house was clean and had everything we needed to make breakfast and dinner both days. The three bedrooms plus the loft beds were comfortable and views of the pond out back were great.

Getaway
We stayed at the property for a ski vacation, but also just for a getaway. As advertised, the location was nice and private with serene views towards the pond. The house was spacious and comfy, the beds especially so. The first-floor bunk room was perfect for my young grandchildren, and they were delighted by the toy box. Kitchen was fairly well equipped and easy to use for meal prep. Great place to stay and recharge, close to Pleasant Mt. and Mt Abrams, fire in the fireplace to play games around - we were more than satisfied!

Perfect for family vacation
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house/description is accurate. The host made us very comfortable answering all the questions and giving suggestions along the way. Kids enjoyed the hikes around and the papoose pond rides in the kayaks. They want to come back to the same place again in summer.

Enjoyed our annual family vacation to Maine. Close access to water. Nice kayaking down crooked river. Owner very responsive in replacing missing deck chairs. Good value for the money.

Great getaway
Property was exactly what we wanted on a pond that was perfect for our younger children and located near family we wanted to visit. The canoe and two kayaks were used daily and sitting on the porch in the morning with coffee watching the blue heron was wonderful. Directions to the location does however need refining.

The waterfront cabin was a nice location for our family vacation. The furniture and kitchen were basic, without a dishwasher. The mattress in the upstairs bedroom needs updating.

Perfect relaxing getaway
My husband and I are familiar with papoose pond and the surrounding area. This was a perfect quite getaway. The cabin had everything we would want to explore the pond or sit by the beach. The house was comfortable and absolutely what we were hoping for. We booked again for next year.

Rustic cabin, super host
Mostly I (we) only stayed at the property after our daughter's wedding at a near by venue. Host was a fabulous communicator, quick to respond, very flexible with our shifting asks as the event neared. Very happy to have booked this cabin for our needs. My only regret is that I did not try swimming in the pond sooner! Kayaking was great but swimming at 5 (or 6) am was the best memory I will have from our short stay. Once there was a fishing boat (I think it was a fishing boat - I tried to stay far away & my eyesight is bad) but otherwise I had the "pond" to myself. No. Motorized. Vehicles to scare me away from swimming the length up, then back. A big WOO HOO from someone who usually has to swim in Lake Winnepesaukee during her summer trips back east.

Maine Getaway with Friends
Wonderful stay for a weekend getaway for four couples. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking breakfast and the dining room table fit our 8-person group comfortably. Good location for shopping in Bethel and Norway at Philbrook Place, Fiber & Vine, and Handmade Maine. Norway Brewing and Oxbow Beer Garden were also great for drinks and food. It was a rainy weekend, so the dirt driveway was quite muddy, but we made it through without needing all-wheel drive.

Great winter visit
View and access to the pond is terrific. The accommodations for a family of 6 are really good, nothing fancy. Had all we needed to enjoy walks around the pond on the ice, even successfully did some ice fishing. Saw a Bald Eagle on several occasions in front of the home. Reasonable drive to Bethel and Sunday River.

Loved this place! A rare rental thats better than the pictures :) great communication with Angelica! It took us closer to 40 minutes to make it to Sunday River… rough road conditions with the snow though. Thanks for a fun weekend with friends!!

Cozy log cabin
Beautiful cozy log cabin in the woods! Perfect amount of space for our ski group of 3 couples and a few singles. Plenty of cozy blankets and the heat worked very well, fireplace was a lovely extra bonus! Wifi was good enough for a couple folks to work remote and be in simultaneous video calls. XC skiing and walking on the lake was absolutely beautiful. We came during a 1ft+ snow storm and Angelica was very helpful and quick to respond to our questions about the plowing service! Drive to Sunday River is a little on the long side (30-40 min) in the snow and mountain traffic but very manageable. Hannafords and Walmart were convenient for groceries. Overall a wonderful experience!

Great Sunday River spot with friends
Stayed here with a group of friends for a ski trip to Sunday River. Really cool place right on a lake. Angelica and Jeff were very responsive and helpful when asking if we will get plowed out due to blizzard. Overall highly recommend!!!

Lovely getaway
We very much enjoyed our stay at the log cabin over Christmas. Comfortable, cozy, with easy drives to downhill and cross country skiing. Loved being surrounded by nature with a view of the snow covered pond. Planning on returning in the summer one day!

Great fun on the pond
The log cabin was great; clean, comfortable, easy to access and plenty of room! It was very convenient to be able to adjust the heat with just the touch of a button and not have to worry about a fire if we didn’t want one. The kids LOVED the loft area and the ‘bridge’. The floors were new to the cabin, the beds were cozy, and the towels soft. The canoe, kayaks and paddles were all in excellent condition and easy to access. The cabin is close to a small town with a great local coffee shop, book store, local crafts and community grocery store. We explored some awesome mountain biking trails as well!!

Great stay in a secluded cabin!
We had such an amazing time at this location. It was exactly what our group was looking for and the pond was such a great backdrop. We enjoyed kayaking and just relaxing by the fire pit. Perfect for a fall weekend
Thoroughly enjoyed our fall weekend! The colorful fall views on the quiet lake made it so peaceful! Between the kids and adults, we all loved taking advantage of the canoe/kayaks, the view from the back deck, the firepit outside, and cozy fireplace inside. We were still able to find grocery stores not too far, and the kitchen had some essential condiments. The kids enjoyed the toys at the house too. Check in was a little confusing as we had a hard time finding the key late at night, but they responded to our calls and then we had no more problems. Only other complaint would be the downstairs beds- especially bunk beds were old and springy but there were plenty of blankets that we were able to make do. Would also suggest getting a more kid proof railing for the loft, which made us quite nervous with all the gaps. Overall we were pleasantly surprised and it was exactly the cabin feel we were going for to enjoy a fall weekend!

It was amainezing!
Immediately upon arriving, all of our stress and worries washed away. The cabin is so peaceful, warm and inviting. In the mornings we enjoyed listening to a variety of birds as we sat on the deck having our morning cup of coffee. In the afternoons we explored the pond by kayak. And in the evenings we relaxed by the fireplace. The owners left clear instructions for check-in and “how to’s” during our stay. They were even kind enough to call and check in with us after our first night there. We really loved our stay, the cabin and the area. Just one note, however, we brought movies to watch on dvd only to not be able to find a DVD player as listed in the amenities. But overall it was FANTASTIC and we would love to vacation here again!

Beautiful Cabin
Our group was a group of five adults from the Midwest in town for a wedding and we had a great time at the cabin. Everything was clean and organized. This cabin has everything you’ll need for a day at the beach and a night around the campfire looking at all the stars, with or without the kids. The weeds aren’t bad in the pond (more like a lake), the water is crystal clear, and there’s a lovely creek to kayak down. It’s absolutely beautiful. The owners were pleasant to work with and gave us lots of helpful tips about the area. We would definitely revisit.

Peace & Quiet - Great Location
We had a great time. We had hoped for warmer weather, but the hosts can't control that. It was blessedly peaceful and quiet. We had quite a show of various birds. It was lovely to sit on the porch and listen to the wind in the trees and watch the birds. Having partially grown up in Maine and having since moved to the Boston area, I was thrilled to smell that indescribable Maine smell, fresh air, pine needs and others I can't identify. We needed this as the pandemic has been hard on everyone. It was very healing to relax in Nature. Thanks!

We had a great week at the house. The communication with Angelica was smooth. The place had most everything we needed. We brought paper plates, tin foil, plastic storage freezer bags. We didnt really need to. There is a Cumberland Farms in Norway which isn't far away. The pond was nice, the small beach area was cool. There was a fire pit up by the house with plenty of chairs around it. Going up the Crooked River in our kayaks was fun. Hang a right off the beach and explore. We'd stay there again for sure. Generations of fun
Spacious, comfortable, just as described. Private home on a shallow clear and warm water pond. The kayaks through the Crooked River= peace and tranquility. Our 9 family members had plenty of room, occasionally couldn't find someone. 3 floors, a large private lot, a river and a pond, it has become our favorite family vacation memory. We will definitely be back, hopefully for 2 weeks.
