The fully operational farm “Ferienhof Heinen,” which specialises in dairy and livestock farming, is located in “Elisabethgroden” in Wangerland, very close to the North Sea resort of Carolinensiel-Harlesiel. 
Our farm is situated in a very quiet location in the vast, fresh East Frisian marshlands, surrounded by lush meadows and fields, between the main dike and the “Schlafdeich,” right next to the “Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park,” which has been a “UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site” since 2009.
A short distance north of our farm lies the outer dike, and beyond it, the sea. A short distance to the south lies the “Schlafdeich”—the old dike that, following land reclamation over the past few centuries, is now situated somewhat inland and no longer serves a direct coastal protection function. That’s why it’s also called the “Schlafdeich”—because it has, so to speak, found its peace.
Our farm is located between these two dikes on the “polder”—the land reclaimed from the sea by previous generations—which will offer you a truly unique scenic experience during your holiday.
Here, two beautiful, welcoming, tastefully furnished, and very well-equipped cosy holiday apartments await our guests and their children, from which they can see the dike and watch the cows in our pastures. The apartments measure approximately 60 and 65 square metres and offer plenty of space for two to five people, or two to four people plus a small child. An unusually unobstructed view all around the farm of vast open countryside awaits you—something you’ve surely never experienced before.
In the beautiful, sunny garden in front of our house, you can enjoy the incredible peace and quiet and the wonderfully fresh East Frisian air.
The “Ferienhof Heinen” is an active dairy farm—interesting, modern, and steeped in East Frisian tradition all at once. We have about 60 cows and their offspring—calves and young cattle. We also have two cats and a cute rabbit. So there’s plenty to see and do on a real farm.
Once you’ve managed to tear yourself and the kids away from our farm and the magnificent expanse of fields and meadows, be sure to visit the beautiful North Sea resort of Carolinensiel-Harlesiel nearby.
Carolinensiel-Harlesiel offers a wide range of holiday activities for children and parents. For example, there’s the “Haus des Gastes” and the “Cliner Quelle” spa centre, which feature a comprehensive selection of swimming, entertainment, and relaxation options. For example, parents can read in peace while their children are looked after by experienced staff.
The Museum Harbour is a real gem, and there you’ll be treated to fine East Frisian maritime cuisine at various restaurants and cafés.
At the Museum Harbour, you can enjoy the view of the old ships, the harbour promenade with its cafés, tea rooms, and restaurants, as well as the paddle steamer “Concordia II,” a replica of the old “Concordia I” from 1854. This paddle steamer operates a shuttle service on the Harle River, taking you from the Museum Harbour past the “Haus des Gastes,” through the Friedrichsschleuse lock, and on to the marina in Harlesiel on the North Sea.
Of course, the whole family loves going to the beautiful beach here, but you can also go swimming at the saltwater indoor pool (with a paddling pool, sauna, tanning beds, beauty and wellness area, and the popular “Moonlight Swim” once a week). Or, in the summer, you can visit the heated seawater outdoor pool in Harlesiel. For children, growing teens, and really the whole family, there’s the “Happy Family Club” with programmes and plenty of activities. A holiday in Carolinensiel always offers plenty of opportunities for sports and games, entertainment, and relaxation.
Of course, “Caro”—as the locals affectionately call this beautiful town—also has everything you need for daily life: supermarkets large and small
