We arrived at Burning Shore for our prebooked - prepaid accomodation over Xmas holidays - only to find it closed and without any notice on the door. When we phoned we were told the hotel was closed for renovations- and that they had not received our booking or payment ( clearly confirmed in hotels.com) - and no rooms were available in an adjacent/ presumably affiliated hotel ( 2 days before Xmas) . Hotels.com sorted this out with Burning Shore and arranged the refund promptly . It was not hotels.com's fault - Burning Shore had not advised us or hotels.com of the unavailability of their hotel. We would NOT recommend Burning shore EVER. Happy with hotels.com for their prompt reply but we were still well out of pocket trying to find alternative accomodation over Xmas in Swakopmund.
Il fait froid l'hiver sur la cote, cependant le confort de la chambre est appréciable et nous nous sentions bien, même si apparemment nous étions les uniques clients séjournant dans l’hôtel...
The hotel has gone from good to bad within a year. The location on the beach front is amazing however the amenities are shocking. The coffee bar in the room was not filled with items required. We had to ask for a hairdryer. We had to ask for a WiFi password. They do not serve dinner and failed to notify us where to eat in this secluded area which is 15 km from Walvis Bay or Swakopmund. Lastly the buffet breakfast was a joke. For example there was notice typed out stating how much you could eat and NO MORE “0nly one cup of coffee OR a juice!” No cereal, no fruit, no joghurt, no cheese, no cold meats, no muffins or croissants. We would have offered to pay extra for the extra items... we could have pre chosen our breakfast in advance to give them shopping time. Badly managed.
Excellent location for a peaceful and quite stay. Room and bathroom was big, Wi-Fi was reasonable.

Not the Burning Shore I used to know
I used to love this hotel. As of now, the only thing left is the ocean view and friendly staff.
The staff are awesome, but the place is run down, balcony seats are not in a usable condition. Breakfast is a mere egg, sausage and bacon.
If all you want is to sleep and wake up to the sound of the ocean, sure, but if want a hotel experience, this is no longer it. Place needs renovations.
Nice, quiet property on beach at Langstrand (Long Beach). Not much in Long Beach in way of restaurants, but Walvis Bay is only about a 15-minute drive. Only 2 of the property’s 10 or so rooms were occupied. We booked a standard room, but were given a free upgrade to a premium room. Would definitely stay there again.
Beautiful location, but understaffed and management lacking. Service to guests for basic needs e.g water in the room, working equipment, availability to decaf/normal coffee, etc. inconsistent. Rooms not sound proofed and noise from reception staff and staff toilet unacceptable. Staff/management need to be retrained in basic guest relations. This is a Bed and Breakfast, not a hotel.
This hotel is not in Walvis Bay, unless you consider 19 km away within the city limits of Walvis Bay. The hotel lists itself as being within Walvis Bay, which may be a province or something, not the town of Walvis Bay. When I arrived the receptionist was not at the reception, so I had to wake up a security guard sleeping on the floor in an adjoining office. The hotel is "very sad" and run down. The restaurant was closed got the foreseeable future, so if you wanted to eat anything, other than the local Shell garage, you would probably need to travel to and from Walvis Bay, ie 19 km away. Needless to say, I decided not to stay here, and despite not being able to cancel my one night reservation and hence received no refund, I drove back 19 km to Walvis Bay and paid for an alternate hotel.
We left every morning the sign Please make my room but room wasn't done. Towels seemed dirty and restaurant ran out of eggs for breakfast. TV wasn't working. The only good thing was location

The hotel room has no AC, with 40 degrees outside heat trapped inside the room specially on the first floor in a carpeted room was unbearable. The staff tried their best and provided us with fans which were just circulating trapped heat. We had booked the hotel thinking it is part of protea Marriott and would have the same standards but upon arrival we found out the hotel's owners had changed few weeks back. The hotel location is also a bit out of town in stern walvis bay and swapkomund. GPS take u to walvis bay15-20 Kim's away. Overall I would not recommend anyone stay at this hotel until the infrastructure improves.
The meno did not give you much of a choice. So if you stay long it will get really boring. Except for that everything was wonderful. I loved the room.

Not a bad hotel at all
Stay was not bad, however the bathroom is far from main bedroom and cupboards not in bedrooms as well. Windows quite difficult to open, due to timber windows and hinges are rusted.
Remote hotel on beach 15 miles from Walvis Bay. Beautiful setting, but inconvenient for business in Walvis Bay. Bathroom open to room, no privacy. Hotel had meetings scheduled, so breakfast was in-room. Very willing to bring anything on their buffet. Taxis to/from town a little pricey, adding to cost of the stay. Restaurant on-site, but open only when no other events going on.
Chambre magnifique avec baignoire douche et large terrasse donnant sur la mer.

Nice place to stay directly on the beach
Room was very pleasant, located directly on the beach.
Hotel staff were friendly and the food was nice.
Only thing against the hotel is it needs a bit of maintenance to get it back to a top hotel.
We had wonderful time in Protea Hotel Burning shore, I guess we were lucky with the room booking as we had lovely spacious room, in which famous couple has stayed once when visiting Namibia. It has freestanding bath and shower and amazing view to the beach. It wasn't full season so hotel was not too busy and we received great service from all the staff. very happy with choice we made.
Unfortunately booked for 4 days and left after 2 as there was no wifi (it had been down for 2 weeks apparently) there was none there it was so quite with nowhere to walk to to see other human beings! The beach was lovely and the hotel very impressive rooms. Moved to the Pelican Bay in Walvis and the room not as impressive but definitely better location.
