"Room was clean and well furnished. I've been a pretty regular guest since the mid 60's and as in the past yhe rooms can be cool during the winter."

"What a wonderful way to spend a few days. Great listing, well equipped with everything you could possibly need for fun time at the beach. Each day begins with a sunrise right over the water. Even in the winter, this home is well equipped for a great time. I especially enjoyed the stars and spending the evening by the fire, in the hot tub and sauna. Would stay again. "This is the second time we've stayed at the Retreat and we've thoroughly enjoyed both stays. The house is located in a very quiet area with beautiful views of the St Mark's river from the screened porch. The house was spotless when we arrived and had everything we needed to prepare meals and relax when not out on a daily adventure. The area offers endless opportunities for outdoor activities, our favorite being the St. Mark's Wildlife Reserve. Day trips to Apalachicola, Alligator Point, St George Island and Panacea are also worth it for the beautiful coastline drive. While the location is remote, a Publix is within about 20 minutes drive to stock up on necessities.Carolyn has been a great host and answered any questions we had very promptly. We're already missing the river (an otter swam by to say hello this morning) and can't wait to get back. We highly recommend checking this place out if you are exploring the area."

"We had a wonderful stay at the Spotted Grouper. The cottage is quiet and peaceful, and the sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico were beautiful. We enjoyed walking on the beach, collecting shells, and really appreciated how close to nature the area is — including an unexpected bear sighting!We stayed in December, which was a great time to visit: cool and chilly mornings and evenings, with sunny, comfortably warm days. I traveled from Annapolis with my mom, and the trip was especially meaningful because we were visiting my son, who stayed with us. The space was perfect for spending time together and cooking meals as a family.The hostess was great — gracious and accommodating to our needs. The cottage was clean and inviting. We would absolutely stay here again and will definitely return when we’re in town visiting my son."
