Our family had a great time during our stay. The house was clean, and the owners were pleasant and helpful. Our kids loved fishing at the bass pond and watching the wildlife as we explored the property. I would highly recommend renting the mule. We would definitely stay here again.
Definitely off the beaten path! House had everything we needed and plenty of space. We made full use of the pool and enjoyed the pool table and fuseball. Great place!
Beautiful property and amazing people. They were super nice and helpful. We rented the side by side and they provided us with feed to use out on the property. We got to see a bunch of really cool animals and had a ton of fun fishing too. We will definitely be going back!
If you love the outdoors and a nice, relaxing atmosphere, this is the place to be! The bardo is just perfect! Easy check-in, nice and clean, comfy beds, animals everywhere, great fire pit, nice pool for a quick dip, and rent the mule! It’s worth it! The fishing was great too! We caught several large mouth bass and got in some good laughs with nearby horses farting it up. We loved everything! I want to come back with my siblings and their kids.
We enjoyed our stay. Plenty of room. Saw many animals each day. It did rain a couple of times during our stay so didn't get to explore the property much but able to do movie night, play pool & other games. A little far out but enjoyed the peace & quite. Would recommend to others.
We loved it so much we came back for another family holiday gathering! This round we saw a noticeable improvement with the on site WiFi connectivity (thank you!). We took full advantage of the kitchen for holiday meal prep (plenty of slow cookers, pots/pans and utensils). There’s a traditional drip coffee machine, no keurig, for morning coffee brewing and a full sized fridge for all of your food storage needs (plus a drinks fridge!).
The optional mule available to take trips around the property and viewing the wildlife is a must. The property staff is friendly and attentive if you need any assistance.
Our stay was nothing but fun! Too many rides in the pasture to count! Exotics seen on every ride. Fishing provided many fun catches! Swimming, outdoor fire pit with smores, games of pool and foosball. Comfortable indoor living area. Comfortable outdoor seating. Plenty of room for large party to spread out in. Nothing but good to say. Surprised by supplied water, ice and wood! Everyone in our party left talking about wanting to return!
We wanted a new experience and we got it. We truly enjoyed riding on the Mule on the property and spotting wildlife, the kids got so excited. The space was plenty big enough for 4 adults and 4 children. I do wish the property had a bit more shade especially for the summer months. The Barndo got warm in the summer sun, but they had plenty of fans and it wasn’t bad. We did come across some scorpions but that’s to be expected with the heat. I wish the pool cues were better, all but 1, were missing the tips making them unusable. Overall it was a fun trip!
Great place to disconnect and fantastic night sky view
My family spent 3 nights for a holiday break at the Barndo and had a great time. With 3 bathrooms, plenty of beds, and large amount of open space and seating for all seven of us, we enjoyed some time away from the holiday shoppers with quiet surroundings and nice night sky visibility.
The 6-seater mule was a hit and we explored the grounds daily to see the livestock, ponds, and various deer and birds in the area.
The kitchen was well stocked with gear to prep our Thanksgiving meal as well as a large dining table which provided more than enough space for our crew. Unlike most rentals, there is no keurig, just drip machine.
Bring a telescope! We had a fantastic view of a meteor shower and had fun playing “spot the starlink satellites” over a campfire with s’mores.
Things to keep in mind: I do not say “disconnect” lightly as a description. Internet access is minimal (email and texting access at most via guest WiFi at roughly 4-5Mbps download speed max). I highly suggest downloading offline maps of the area since cell-service is limited to one bar at best, if you have any signal at all. We had some delay to our arrival time and found it very challenging trying to find the front gate after sunset. The same is true if you want to play your own tunes; download your playlists in advance. All of this aside, our stay was a nice break from the all too often social media and news overload. If you really need some TV time, the DirectTV option offers plenty of stations.
My 3 brothers and I really enjoyed our stay to catch up and relax. I'm glad we rented the mule to ride around the property. We also enjoyed the fishing.
This place was the EXCELLENT for our Christmas family celebration. We made precious memories. There is a lot of wildlife, which our grandchildren loved. We are city people, who get excited about baby cows running and jumping. We purchased the off-road vehicle (Mule), which is an absolute MUST if you want to see the property, although most SUVs can get through most of the property. This is a hunters lodge, which means it lacks some of the polish for city slickers. For us, we loved it! The only reason I didn't give it a perfect rating is that the property and the mule need some gentle maintenance.
Overall, the facility was great!! Very accommodating and, clean; well stocked with bathroom toiletries and with kitchen supplies. Our only concerns were (1) one of the bathroom doors does not close properly, and (2) the fitted sheet was too small on one of the beds.
This was an absolutely amazing place for my family. My grandkids enjoyed riding around to see all the animals and to go fishing. It is a very relaxing place and we hope to come back.
Everything was clean and great! We really enjoyed our stay! This is our 3rd time staying here and we absolutely love it! We can’t wait to come back, what a nice hidden gem!
Perfect getaway to spend together time. Loved watching animals come up to the gate in the evenings and rides in the ATV. Plenty of space for all of us.
My buddies and I stayed here for a long weekend. Easily accommodated 7 grown men. Not a ton going on in the area which is exactly what we were looking for!
