The Cahill-Magnolia Brewery House
“Waco’s Hidden Little Gem”
This unique Waco home was built by Pat Cahill, manager of Magnolia Brewery 125 years ago when he arrived in boomtown Waco in 1894. At that time, this area of town was on the outskirts of Waco as it expanded away from the Brazos River to the West, just a block away from the famous Cotton Palace that attracted over 400,000 thousand visitors to Waco each fall to celebrate the cotton harvest. Built entirely of Texas virgin, old-growth heart pine, the Cahill-Magnolia Brewery House originally consisted of only the front section of the entry hall and the two side rooms. Later, about 1898, the back room was added and at the same time the two fireplaces were built.
By 2019, the house had become abandoned, forlorn and red-tagged by the city of Waco for demolition. By tearing down newer, poorly built additions on the back of the house, the original sturdy craftsmanship that had been put into the home by its original builder, was discovered and painstakingly restored! Hidden features like the thirty-foot deep, hand-dug, brick-lined well were exposed and celebrated.
The ceilings were opened up back to their original twelve-foot height an closed fireplaces and heart-pine floors were restored. The back room was fitted out for your comfort with all the conveniences of a modern bath. Then the restoration was topped off with period, turn-of-the-century furnishings.
Today, the Cahill-Magnolia Brewery House stands as a testimony to the recent re-birth of downtown Waco. Situated within easy walking distance of the later Magnolia Silos, this unique home offers visitors inner city convenience in a charming, original historic-Texas setting.

If you are looking for a house with amazing charm but still newer amenities, look no further. This house is beautiful and comfortable. Sonya made our stay amazing and it truly felt homey.
The booking process was easy. Communication with the host was smooth and response time was quick. The property was beautifully decorated, amenities were great and all of the little touches throughout the home were very thoughtful. The proximity to the restaurants, bars, and all of the attractions in Waco was convenient. Overall, our stay was wonderful and we would highly recommend it.
My wife and I were look forward to a relaxing/cozy time while we were kid free for a few days. This location was PERFECT for us! Super close to Magnolia, LOTS of great food, and the perfect place to just sit and relax/read/rest. If you’ve got just a few people in your party, I HIGHLY recommend this location!
Be careful with this one - on our way to the property we learned that the host double booked and we had no place to stay. Strange as our booking was confirmed months in advance. So, a two night stay at this confirmed property turned into a one night stay in Waco at a La Quinta.
The home is beautiful. Could just use a couple of updates on the deck. Overall experience was good. The hostess Sonya was wonderful to work with. There was a sweet surprise around every corner for our anniversary.
The neighborhood is in the process of revitalization. There is a sweet BBQ joint just a couple blocks away with the best ribs and brisket we ever had. Mama and Papa B's. You won't want to stop, but do, the best ribs ever and Billy the owner is wonderful.
Thank you Sonya for a wonderful stay.
I have only good things to say about staying at this beautiful house! The attention to details about the needs of guests was more than most from the phone chargers to snacks to fuzzy blankets that magically smelled of sugar cookies and chocolates on the bed…I cannot list everything. But, by far, the BEST was the bathroom which is actually a spa! The tub…omg. There was a buffet of bath salts, bubbles and scrubs that were great. The house was also a very close drive to Magnolia and during the day we could go back and snack or cool off. So glad my husband and I spent our anniversary shopping in Waco and relaxing in this beautiful house.
My best friend and I stayed here for a weekend girls trip! We live 8 hours away and it was well worth the drive and the Waco experience. Sonya was a sweet owner and communicated was quick and resourceful. The house has everything you need, from qtips to bandaids, feminine products, bubble baths/salts… anything you could of think of she had! Cutest coffee bar in the kitchen as well. We loved this house and we felt as if we were home. I think having the gated yard and gated/code entrance made use feel secure and safe while traveling alone. If you can’t tell I could go on and on about this lovely house. 10/10 recommend!
The house is an amazing place to stay. Restored very well and close to everything. Nice gated secure yard and parking. We will definitely stay again if going back to Waco.
The feel of the house is vintage but the upscale amenities and spa-like bath made this a gem! A wonderful place to rest, relax and recharge. Great for a couples getaway or single's retreat. Three blocks from the Magnolia Silos and 3 minutes to I-35. Our host made a romantic atmosphere with roses, chocolates and candy cane hearts, for our 40th wedding anniversary ❤️!!!
The property is great! The house is beautiful with a large gated back yard. The bathroom is stunning. We loved our stay and will be choosing this one again!
Perfection! It's so cozy and just beautiful. All the attention to details from the fresh baked cookies to the rose made from the toilet paper roll!! There was a little surprise around every corner. Beautifully decorated and just so serene. Definitely will be booking again
I’m not new to the VRBO experience. This rental is top notch-from the welcome sign that personally greets you; to the fresh baked goods and the extra goodies in the kitchen! Don’t you worry if you’ve forgotten it-this rental has supplied it! Location is within walking distance to Magnolia, Dr. Pepper museum and most restaurants/bars. If I could give it 100 stars, I would! Stop delaying and book it! 👏 👏👏
