About this property
Entire place
You'll have the entire home to yourself and will only share it with other guests in your party.
I purchased this unusual "enclave" (try to find right angles in the house, there aren't many) in December 2023 and since have added over $100,000 in renovations and furniture, including a new bathroom, new dining room table that seats 8 plus high top kitchen table that seats 4, seasonal pool table room, screened in back porch, outdoor grille, 4 picnic tables, beds and sheets, new furnace, new washing machine and 2 new dryers, new range, 3 new TVs (biggest one is 80"!), kitchen utensils, sectional couch, wall hangings. Almost every furnishing in the house is brand new except the cool old stuff on the walls.
We can sleep 20 on beds and one futon. You could squeeze 4 more on the sectional (NON-pullout) couch and blow up mattress for 24 total. Plenty of extra blankets and pillows in the cabin. (Please read details to make sure your party is comfortable with the sleeping arrangements - 3 beds are somewhat "open air" and 2 beds are in the Bunk House!)
NEW AS OF APRIL 2026 - SCREENED IN BACK PORCH!
NEW AS OF MAY 2025: POOL TABLE ROOM OFF THE GARAGE IS COMPLETE! WOOD BURNING STOVE FOR WINTER USE!
The house has 4 bedrooms, a bonus sleeping room downstairs which mostly stays naturally cool in the summer, and a separate bunk house on the bluff that sleeps 3. Each of 4 bathrooms has either a shower or tub or both.
Bunk House has heat and electricity, microwave and fridge. Sink has SEASONAL (about May to October) water. NO TOILET SORRY!
There is 1 fireplace and 2 wood-burning stoves and all the free wood you need. No A/C but fans in every room other than the lowest level. Solar panels help provide winter heat.
(Please ignore the extra 1/2 bath VRBO adds to the header above, multiple phone calls to them and they never fix what they say is a programming error on their part!)
WHAT'S CLOSE?
9 miles from skiing at Norway Mountain which is OPEN! The view is SPECTACULAR if you want to eat or just get a drink there.
20 miles to Pine Mountain golf and skiing and the world-class professional ski jump and the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame whose most famous member is a pretty good college basketball coach.
7 miles from one of the UP's first iron mines which you can tour seasonally. (https://ironmountainironmine.wixsite.com/ironmine)
4 miles to some pretty good pizza, wings and fish at Kraemers 3 Lakes if you don't feel like cooking. Self service beer fridge if Nick, the very nice owner, is cooking your order.
22 miles to gambling and golf at the Island Resort and Casino.
OUTDOOR WEDDINGS: (We've had 2 in 2025 and our 3rd is booked.) Natural wood rustic altar on grounds! The front yard is a gentle bowl shape that is great for staging chairs/guests at a slight elevation so they can see the bride and groom. You are welcome to set up a gazebo/tents on the property. Lots of parking near the bunkhouse. In case of rain you could get a small group on the covered back porch.
And...you have 40 acres to roam including Hamilton Creek on the NW side of the property (just follow the red tiles I've laid down as a path.) There are many walking paths you can explore and you can't see any other properties from the house. There are 5 old farm implements and the vestiges of a 1920s era car on the grounds. No hunting please, my nice, protective neighbor just behind me will call me if he hears gunshots! Snowmobiling/dirt biking is fine but please download the free app REGRID to see exactly where my property lines are if you choose to roam!
And...I have Starlink Internet so knock yourself out and stream almost anything you want on the 3 new TVs or your own devices.
DOG(S) FRIENDLY AT NO EXTRA CHARGE!:
If you want to leave your pooches outside for a bit but are afraid they'll roam, there's a fenced in corral off the bunk house to keep them close. Max 3 dogs. Please keep them off couch and beds (if there is excessive hair on either my cleaners will charge me - and you - an extra $100!) Dyson vacuums and lint brushes provided if Fido jumps on them.
Cleaning Fee - yes it's excessive but I promise it is pass-though! Finding someone who wants to drive out to the boondocks to leave the place clean has been one of the hardest things I've had to do as a host. Please leave towels on the floor and strip beds, that helps me keep cleaning costs as low as I can get them! Thanks!
2 night minimum stay,
DIRECTIONS (GPS MAY NOT FIND THE EXACT SPOT!) From almost any direction, find the intersection of Route 2 and Waucedah Rd., east of Norway. - Head south .2 miles (across train tracks) - Make your first right (still Waucedah Rd. - look for the sign that says : " Hamilton Lakes 4 miles ") - Exactly .6 miles to your right look for big mailbox with American flag. Solar light illumination at night.

Family reunion of adults and kids. The indoor and outdoor space was perfect for us. Communication with the owner was both pleasant and helpful. He was very accommodating with all of our needs.
The communication and checkin process was flawless. The property was excellent. We had a group of 10 guys and everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. Amenities were well laid out. Sitting around the fire pit, looking at the stars was perfect.
This was a perfect place to get away for the weekend and just enjoy the outdoors. So much land and space to ourselves. We had a group of 15 and did so many activities like kickball, volleyball, water guns. We made the best out of the place and the town was about 20 minutes of a drive.
Such a beautiful space Mark has here. It did absolutely perfect for our little ceremony. Everything was super clean. Mark made staying here really easy and was always available for a text/phone call if we had an idea to run by him.
We found this property after our first wedding venue fell through and I couldn’t be happier! The house was absolutely amazing and very cool to find all the different nooks and crannies. The property was also amazing and beautiful. What really made the property wonderful though was Mark! He was super great to work with and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure our stay was perfect! Overall absolutely amazing and it made for a great wedding weekend for us!
It was great to find a place that our family of 16 and 2 dogs could enjoy together. Plenty of extra blankets and space heaters for the cold weather. The layout was a little quirky but we had plenty of spaces for the whole group to be together as well as privacy when we wanted it. The additional building for billiards and the bunk house gave the teenagers a great place to hang out. Mark was easy to reach and he responded immediately to our questions. We would definitely consider booking this property again.
