While the location and the unit itself were both great, we were very disappointed with the state of the condo building and our encounters with Vacasa management. When we arrived, about an hour past the assigned check-in time, our unit had clearly not been cleaned. There were dirty linens piled in both bathrooms, unmade (and obviously slept in) beds, and the kitchen and bathroom surfaces had not been cleaned. We immediately called the Vacasa number provided in our check in packet, and were told that someone would get back to us within 30 minutes about getting the unit cleaned. I called back about 45 minutes later and was told that the ticket was in and I would hear back from someone that evening with an ETA for the cleaners. When we still hadn't heard from someone by dinner, we made arrangements to stay in another unit with some friends in the same building. The next morning, we called Vacasa again, and were told, again, that someone would get back to us about a cleaning time. When we asked to speak to a manager, we were put on hold and the called was dropped. The person called back a few minutes later, apologized for the lost call, and said that she had spoken with a local Vacasa manager who had informed her that a number of cleaning people had quit suddenly on our arrival day, and we were on a list of units scheduled to be cleaned. She did not have an ETA on that cleaning, however, so we went ahead and cleaned the unit ourselves with the supplies and linens we found on site. Naturally, a cleaning crew arrived that afternoon around 2pm, just as we came back in from the beach due to a thunderstorm. No one ever called us to tell us they were coming. The person who handed us our keys at check-in never mentioned a shortage of cleaning people or any cleaning delays. In addition to all of this drama, the pool which was right in front of our room (and one of our main reasons for booking that particular unit) was 'closed for the season' due to 'construction' (though we never saw any signs of work being done), and an open section of the pool was full of algae and trash. The pool by the beach (with the swim-up bar & grill, which seemed to be open at the whim of the owner, instead of during the posted hours) was clearly having filter issues, as the water was cloudy and full of bugs all week. The balconies and hallways of the condo building were dirty as well, showing obvious signs of rust, mildew and disrepair. Upon check out, my husband mentioned our issues to the person at the key turn-in location, and was told that someone would get back to us by Monday morning. It is now Tuesday afternoon and no word. We will not be renting from Vacasa again any time soon.
