"The valet’s were incredibly helpful. They were the most valuable part of getting around the island. The restaurant had great food and Amari was the kindest server. I would most definitely recommend and stay here again. It was not about the insta pics, it was peaceful and serene."

"The Villas at Simpson Bay Resort is an excellent place for fun, sun and relaxation. Our one bedroom suite had everything we needed to make a quick breakfast and enjoy on the ocean front balcony. "I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort. While St. Maarten and the surrounding islands were beautiful and enjoyable, the resort itself did not meet expectations at all. One of the biggest issues was the lack of room cleaning. We were gone all day and returned expecting the rooms to be cleaned, but they were not. What made it even more frustrating was that the room had been decorated for birthday decor, yet basic housekeeping was still not completed. It felt like the resort focused on appearances but failed to provide the basic service guests expect. The second room on our reservation also had a strong sewer smell, which made the stay uncomfortable and unpleasant. This should have been addressed immediately, but the front desk was unable to properly get the room situation figured out. The check-in and room assignment process was confusing and poorly handled. On top of that, we were charged extra money for a third person staying in a room that has a maximum occupancy of four people. We were specifically told by guest services that this charge would be removed, but we were charged anyway. That is unacceptable and feels misleading. Overall, my guests and I were not happy with the resort. We enjoyed St. Maarten and the nearby islands, but the service, room issues, housekeeping, and billing problems at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort made the stay frustrating and disappointing. I would not recommend this resort based on our experience."

"Staff was delightful. Clean and quiet beach front. Not a lot of gluten free food choices if you have celiac, allergy or other food restrictions. Would have liked to have the room cleaned daily but staff was attentive when we asked. Overall, a great experience and we would stay again! "

"We had a great overall experience at this property. The resort is very well maintained, and the staff was consistently friendly and accommodating. The food and drinks were excellent — as they should be considering the prices. Breakfast was included with our stay, and both the selection and service exceeded expectations. We actually preferred the lounge/bar menu over the main dinner menu, not because of cost, but simply due to the variety and flavor, so I’d recommend trying items from both menus during your stay. The beach itself was a bit underwhelming, mainly because of the nearby cruise ship traffic. The water was murkier than what we typically expect in SXM, and the sand had quite a few cigarette butts and pigeons around. That said, the front desk staff was extremely helpful in arranging taxis so we could explore other beaches across the island. One of the highlights of the property is its location at the base of a beautiful mountain, which creates amazing views from the boardwalk area. Just be aware that most shops and restaurants nearby tend to close around 5–6 PM once the cruise ships depart. Fortunately, there were still a few great spots within walking distance, and we felt safe throughout our stay"
