I just love a vacation home on a dirt road! It truly makes you feel as if you’re getting away from it all. We could not see or hear the 2 neighboring houses through the woods. We counted 9 deer right close to home. Rich’s house was immaculately clean when we arrived. And what a floor plan! Very open and spacious, with a fantastic back deck, including a picnic table. The gas grill (looked unused, it was so clean) was the easiest I’ve ever used. We ate most of our dinners on the deck and surprisingly, no mosquitoes. Only hummingbirds! Great outdoor shower too! The pool (big enough to do laps) is a 3-minute walk down the dirt road, very private, with a shallow end and a deep end with a diving board, and so pristine seriously it looks brand new. We used Rich’s bikes/helmets which were in excellent condition. The bike path that goes all around Martha’s Vineyard is one mile down Great Plains Road. Perfectly safe for kids. The home is about an 8 minute drive to Vineyard Haven (ferry), about 15 minutes to Oak Bluffs, and about 20 minutes to Edgartown. This is a “get-away home” yet only minutes from plenty of activity. The drives up-island are unbelievably rural and stunning. The closest beach, Lambert’s Cove Beach, is open to the public for free up until 10am and after 5pm – for beach hours there’s a daily and weekly fee – it is one of the prettiest beaches on the island. We enjoyed evening walks before sunset. I would recommend Rich’s lovely home, with all the amenities you could possibly need, to anyone looking for a country feel yet not too remote. Thank you, Rich.
