About this property

Bonnie Glen Fish the Watauga Across the Road from a Pet-Friendly 2BR Home

  • Welcome to Bonnie Glen, a brick country home tucked into the quiet river valley between Sugar Grove and Valle Crucis. A covered porch runs the whole length of the house and looks out over open pasture to the ridgeline, the Watauga River runs right across the road, and the original Mast General Store is under a mile away. It's the kind of place you slow down in.

THE SETTING - The house sits on an acre of open ground in classic High Country farm country: old barns, rolling pasture and wooded ridges all around. A public access to the Watauga River is right across the road for wading, fishing and tubing in the summer. Mornings start on the porch with coffee. Evenings end on the side deck with dinner, or out back in the Adirondack chairs as the light goes gold over the hills.

THE HOME - Everything is on one level. The living room has hardwood floors, a big, deep sectional, a brick fireplace with a painted teal mantel, and windows on three sides. The primary bedroom is a calm, deep teal room with a queen bed and its own half bath. The second bedroom has soft sage walls, a queen bed and plenty of closet space. A trundle bed sleeps one more, for 5 guests total. The full bath has a tub and shower combo.

THE KITCHEN - Bright white cabinets, a classic double-basin farmhouse sink, a full-size electric range and oven, microwave, dishwasher, a 2024 Smeg refrigerator, cooking basics and a Nespresso coffee maker. A high-top table seats you right in the kitchen. A stacked washing machine and dryer is in its own closet just off the kitchen.

THE OUTDOORS - The covered front porch has plenty of seating and pasture views. The side deck has a table for four and a BBQ grill, and the back yard has Adirondack chairs for nights under the stars.

GETTING COMFORTABLE - Central A/C and heat, ceiling fans, a Smart TV and 500 Mbps wifi. Cell service can be spotty in the valley, so the wifi comes in handy.

PETS - Up to 2 dogs are welcome, 75 lb max each. The pet fee is $150 per pet, per stay.

GETTING HERE - Valle Crucis and Mast General Store are 0.9 miles away, Apple Hill Farm 3 miles, city centre Boone and App State 8.6, the Blue Ridge Parkway 11.5, Tweetsie Railway 12.1, Blowing Rock 12.4, Beech Mountain Resort 14.1 and Sugar Mountain Resort 15.2.

GOOD TO KNOW - The house sits right on NC Hwy 194, where traffic moves fast around a curve, and the driveway is tricky to get in and out of. AWD or 4x4 is HIGHLY recommended year-round and required in winter. There's parking for 2 vehicles. There are exterior security cameras on the outside of the home and none inside. The home is on a well and septic, so please flush only toilet paper. Maximum occupancy is 5 guests, no parties or events, and it's a NON SMOKING PROPERTY.
