Villas do Indico was everything I hoped: quiet, relaxed, good food, in a beautiful location. However, you should note that the hotel is 8km from town. I was happy to run/walk along deserted beaches most days to get to town/kite surfing. I then took a ride back. If you are taking rides both ways -- which are charged at around US$20 -- you will run up a substantial transport bill. You have to travel in a 4*4 as the last 3km are unpaved/sand. You can do this cheaper on the back of a motorbike but everyone says it is seriously dangerous.| I also had a small issue with the Internet connection having to be renewed each day. Nonetheless, it is a great location if you want peace. Walking north from the hotel is even quieter and more beautiful than going south. Final tip: I took some 'barefoot' running shoes and they were great on the beach. Take up almost no room in your bag but provide enough protection for running and against razor clams when in the sea -- these are fairly common and can give a bare foot a bad cut when dragged across one.

Pretty hotel in tranquil setting

We had a lovely 5 -night stay here. It is on a quiet beach in a picturesque location, though getting to it is a bit of a bumpy ride on a sandy road. However, this did not stop us from doing a number of good activities from the hotel - canoeing, diving, horse riding etc. A pleasantly memorable holiday.

This hotel is now semi derelict. We arrived and walked around freely unchallenged. There is one member of staff on site. The gates are closed with a sign 'Beware of the Dogs' and we had to push the gates open. IN the parking lot is the broken down, written off airport transfer car with a wheel that has fallen off; there are heaps of rubbish all around and fire debris; the first villas you see are burnt out shells; other villas are rundown and locked up; the infinity pool which is the centre of this boutique hotel is derelict, a large puddle of algae green water at the bottom; the reception was unmanned and we saw just one forlorn group who like us had been misled by the web. There is one employee on site. The hotel has taken down its website. Given that the hotel owner (based in Portugal) refused refunds, and maintains that the hotel is open - I would term this 'fraudulent misrepresentation' by the owner. He or she knows the state of their hotel and continues to take customers' money and refuse refunds. The criticism by the way is squarely of the owner, and I am not implying any criticism of Expedia It porbably once was a good boutique hotel - maybe back in 2018 when the hotel's own photos date from Last winter's economic travails of Mozambique have clearly taken a toll although I suspect the rot set in much earlier with this hotel.

Site magnifique avec vue sur la mer et belle plage. Les chambres sont d’une bonne taille et très bien décorées. L’hôtel est à 12 Km du centre sur une route de terre nécessitant un 4x4. C’est un bon site pour une retraite isolée mais pas pour faire des activités ou marcher. Restaurant sur place avec les prix élevés vu le manque d’autres options Le déjeuner est très bon. Autre point négatif: le staff travaille plus de 12 heures par jour, c’est le même personnel le matin à 7h et le soir à 22h. Il y a donc de l’abus de main d’œuvre.

Villas do Indico is a peaceful beachside haven 7-8kms north of Vilanculo. Luana and the staff were excellent - friendly, attentive & knowledgeable about the area. The rooms were perfect. Well appointed, with comfortable beds, black out curtains, the largest mozzie net we have ever seen! Sitting on the balcony watching the sea at the edge of the property was perfect. The only slight downside was no warning on Expedia that a 4x4 was essential to access the property. The sand road from the town was challenging & we were thankful we have a high clearance vehicle. This has not put us off visiting again & we will be back!!

Paradise Understood!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this property. Everything was done perfectly. Ana and Luis made sure that the overall guest experience was excellent. Our other host, John, made sure that all of our needs were met. The property is away from the main city which made it all the more peaceful. When we wanted to go into town John would arrange to get us to the main connection point and would arrange for a Tuk Tuk. The room was perfectly set up with a mosquito net. The value for money was excellent. We highly recommend this place!

Vi tillbringade 8 nätter här och vi hade det bra. Det är rent och fräscht och bra variation på menyn. Dock så ligger stället helt avskilt från all civilisation och jag tycker inte om när man utnyttjar det och tar överpriser på tex. Vatten, öl och en del mat. Det var bra priser på boendet men 40-50% dyrare att äta och dricka om man jämnför med byn. Stället är annars superfint! Vill du ha en lugn oas och inte ha massa liv runt dig så är detta paradiset.

Prachtige plek met zwembad die uitkijkt over de zee. Prima cabin op het camping terrain. Nadelen, boel is slecht onderhouden dus zwembad heeft erg scherpe tegels waar mensen/kinderen zich flink aan snijden. Daarnaast is de qualiteit van het eten erg slecht en te duur voor wat je krijgt, en vaak misten ingredienten uit de gerechten die op de hoek van de straat gewoon verkrijgbaar waren. Was teleurstellend en je betaalde vooralsnog de volle prijs. Aan te raden voor de locatie, en het vriendelijke personeel. De keuken en staat van het terrein is toe aan renovatie en meer pro-activiteit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were excellent. We received a room upgrade which was amazing. We loved the food in the restaurant, especially the grilled prawns!. We were surprised on our last night there with a special romantic dinner. The views are amazing from the property. Highly recommend!

Is a really wonderful place. Recommend Xavier highly. Bit disappointed that the lodge boats were not operating so we could not easily organize a trip to St Carolina island. That said the trip we did to Bazaruto was spectacular

A very relaxing holiday.

Despite our family all being sick during our stay, we enjoyed our time at Villas do Indico very much. George the manager and the waiters Benny, Xavier and John were all super helpful and very patient given our sickness. The rooms were comfortable, the setting beautiful and we will be going back sometime, when hopefully we will be well.

Great Lodge on the Beach in Vilanculos

Jorge immediately called and emailed me to confirm after I booked my reservations. He arranged a ride from the airport. The grounds are beautifully kept. Large pool overlooking the beach. All the staff were very friendly and majority English speaking. Jorge arranged rides, made recommendations for activities, and ensured my stay was comfortable. This lodge is a bit more remote from the town center but I preferred it because it was like a little piece of heaven to yourself. Breakfast was included which was always great - not just bagels or cereal. Dinners were delicious. Jorge also arranged for a boat trip and snorkeling to visit the nearby islands. Highly recommend.

Hôtel agréable

Hôtel agréable, personnel très aimable et à l'écoute de vos besoins. Néanmoins, le prix est certainement un peu élevé par rapport aux prestations et surtout tenez compte du fait que l'hôtel étant isolé et que si vous n'avez pas de voiture,l'hôtel se propose de venir vous cherchez au centre de Vilanculos mais ceci à un certain coût, à savoir 40 dollars aller/retour. Ceci n'étant pas mentionné, il est préférable de le savoir.

Simple eco-hotel right on the beach

This isn't a sophisticated place but it's charming, has everything you need and is kind to the environment. The chef is amazing and cooks up some truly delicious meals. The location is also off the beaten path so it's very peaceful and serene. The hotel is right on the beach and there are no hills to climb up or down.

A proposta do hotel é para quem busca relaxamento. A piscina com borda infinita é a grande atração, não obstante os espaços para descansar. É necessário que o hotel informe a real localização no site dos hoteis.com, porque ele está há 10 km do centro e se cobra transfer para locomoção. No site existe a informação que é 3,5km. Uma boa ideia é que eles deveriam oferecer transfer gratuito aos hóspedes para compensar a distância. Ademais, importante o investimento na existência de "Menu dos serviços de SPA", visto há ausência deste e pelo que se intitula o hotel.
