A traditional self contained Cottage at Quinta da Ribeira ( no pool )

  • The Cottage at Quinta da Ribeira is the most recent addition, 1885, of an enchanting farmhouse dating from 1628. The original wooden interiors and plaster walls
    have all been lovingly renovated to provide you with a tasteful rustic space to enjoy and relax in the cool. It has ample parking, it's own private terrace, ideal for outside eating whilst enjoying the glorious views of the farmland and forest.
    The Cottage at Quinta da Ribeira (Farm of the Stream) is in a secluded location at the edge of a village, opposite a drinking water fonte that gives the hamlet of Fonte Longa its name .It is a 10 mins drive to the local town of Villa Nova de Poiares, which has restaurants, supermarkets, a complex of outdoor swimming pools (free ) and many other amenities .Within afew kms are the pristine clean rivers Ceira, Alva and Mondego with sandy beaches well facilitated for swimming, canoeing, fishing and relaxing .The most popular spots have rope swings, lifeguards and river side cafes - all have free entrance, parking and wifi .

Characterful and quiet

We really loved this out of the way find which proved a good base for discovering the delights of central Portugal: Gois with river beach, Figueira da Foz, Coimbra, all in good striking distance (with car) and Denise has plenty of further suggestions. Handy supermarket, nice garden and relaxing place to chill (as my daughter says).

All needs are taken care off

From fresh flowers in every room to food and drinks waiting at our arrival to detailed maps of activities and special places of the area...Denise takes care of every aspects of the holidays. The house was our sanctuary full of character and a heavenly big comfy bed we had nowwhere else on our travel through Portugal. We especially liked the sounds of nature and the quietness of the location, the permission to pick vegetables in the garden and all the practical things she thought about to make life comfortable. We adored it.

Paradise in Portugal

Denise & Carlos gave us all the most wonderful welcome and could not have done more throughout our magical stay. The home is authentic, peaceful and we all loved it so much. Amazing terrace we spent many hours in the morning and also the evening watching the sun go down. Denise is a fabulous, joyful and kind host - a very beautiful person. She has a stunning vegetable garden of which she generously allowed us to pick the tastiest freshest vegetables and herbs. The area is stunning - river beaches, colourful flowers, lush green trees and a genuine happiness in the air! We didn’t want to leave and we hope to return one day. Thank you so much x x x

A wonderful Place

The part of the house where we stayed was above charming. The pictures don’t do it justice. It was a pleasure to come back after a day of house hunting. Denise was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the entire area and kept us well supplied with wood for the little stove. It was so quiet, only the goat’s bells, the birds and the wind to be heard. The wonderful king sized bed was hugely appreciated. Like living in the 17th century with benefits! We highly recommend Denise’s piece of paradise. Patty & Bernhard

A beautiful rustic house in a great area

The Quinta is a beautiful 125 house. Confortable and apeasing but at the same time, a great home base. Going to Coimbra was a breeze but we coule reste at night on the patio Watching the Sun settled over the ridge with lambs running in the neigbourgh yard. Denise was a gem. Citrus & tomatoes from her yard (and many more) a great map of the area and a very caring owner. She made us feel so welcome. We hope to go back one day and do note hesitate to book the Quinta.
