"On a flying visit to Bergerac, we were looking for a quiet hotel to stay two nights. Luckily we came across La Carreterie. It was ideal for what we required and our host Thierry went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, enjoyable and relaxing. Really enjoyable breakfast. Hotel has been renovated to a high quality quaint French country style hotel. Look forward to returning "

"Creaking floor in an attic room wasn’t great. Nice view from the window, if you were very small. Tricky staircase to deal with and very low ceilings in corridor. Looked like a fabulous room was unoccupied on ground floor but we weren’t offered it (even for a price) Hostess nice and helpful but no English. Continental breakfast was nice. Great location"

"It was different, like staying in a friends house with some of their stuff still in the room. I had difficulty finding it so they very kindly picked me up at a local restaurant I had found. I arrived late and left early but the overall impression was very positive."

The breakfasts were generous and delicious, with lovely homemade touches - all made even better by taking place in the beautiful courtyard. "We stayed here for a few days around a rugby world cup match, and it was a really lovely start to our trip. The chateau is beautiful and so peaceful - perfect for when you want to retreat from the chaos! The bedrooms are spacious and so well made up, and we were provided with evaporative cooling fans in the room to help with the heatwave. As it's more remote, you will need to travel a little for lunch and dinner, but it's absolutely worth it for such a unique stay."

"We had a wonderful stay! Delphine, the host was lovely, knowledgable and hospitable. The accommodations were nice, clean and relaxing.. surrounding by nature and vineyards. A perfect location for exploring St. Émilion and surrounding smaller villages. Five plus star!!! Would definitely come back for a stay and recommend to friends. "

"Chambre et endroit très propre et calme. Le parquet craque un peu au risque de réveiller les voisins de palier mais c'est ce qui fait le charme de cet endroit. Je pense qu'il faut être relativement peu bruyant pour passer un bon séjour. Endroit idéal pour un séjour au calme, le propriétaire est très disponible et arrangeant. "

"Had a great one night stay here. When we arrived we were greeted in a very friendly manner and were soon offered two bikes to explore the local area. Despite this being a bed and breakfast, we were offered an evening meal. The proprietors made changes to accommodate my pescatarian diet. Wonderful meal with most of the products grown in their garden. We asked to see their dog, and we’re soon throwing a ball for “Sister”, their black Scottish Terrier. "The cottage is nice but not cleaned on a daily basis which is strange and not ideal. The bedsheets are not smooth quite rough and therefore not comfortable. Quite expensive for a bed and breakfast at the middle of nowhere "
