Cute & good location

Great little place for a night. The fridge was helpful to store some food for breakfast. Good location. The restaurant, Tanginn, was great too!

We stayed in Room 2, on the ground floor and had a private bathroom. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Very convenient location to restaurants and shopping. Despite being on the ground floor next to the road, it was fairly quite at night.

We stayed in the family room with the priate bathroom. Its on the first floor and was a lovely room with a modern bathroom. Its right next to the kitchen, but its alsp on the ground floor so you may hear some noise from the upstairs guests. This guesthouse is right next to Gott, which is a FABULOUS restaurant at which we dined for both lunch and dinner. It's within a few blocks of a pharmacy and one of the hiking trailheads.

What a guesthouse stay should be.

For a guesthouse/shared kitchen this was perfect stay. Everything was simple with check in, owners were present and friendly, kitchen was well stocked with plates utensils. Bathrooms were clean and were 2 per floor.

Cute guest house, affordable and simple.

While the area doesn't have a lot of accommodations to choose from, staying at Lava Guesthouse was a great fit for us. The location is great for the downtown walking area, and is walkable from the ferry. If you do bring a car over, there was plenty of available street parking in front of or around the block. The room was as photographed. The shared bathrooms are small, two exist with showers and another is just a toilet. As long as you aren't trying to get ready at the same time as other guests, it's not a problem. We visited in July and it doesn't really get dark. It would have been nice to have better light-blocking curtains or sleep masks provided to keep the light out, but it was an issue easily solved for my partner by having him sleep with a towel over his eyes. Note most rooms are upstairs. We didn't use the kitchen but it did appear well stocked if you were staying multiple days and wanting to keep food costs down. The house asks that you remove your shoes just inside the main door, so that could be an issue for some people but it meant you didn't have as much noise from other guests walking around the hallways.

Excellent for a last minute change (another property on the island failed to provide check in instructions). Room is clean, spacious. The kitchen has utensils, cups, plates, cookware, and a tea kettle -- but be mindful, it's right next door to another guest room. There's a Kronan and Bonus in walking distance if you'd rather cook than eat out. The owner can come out and help on very short notice if needed, but he communicates via phone.

This property is as beautifully appointed. It exceeded our expectations. We did struggle briefly to find it. It would benefit from a clearer sign saying Lava Guesthouse or mention in the communications that it is also known as VIK.
