From hiking in the Salinello Gorges to e-bike tours, every day is an invitation to experience the region with fresh eyes. Residenza Re Manfredi is a family home where our loved ones—Grandpa, Grandma, and their two children—were born and lived for many years before moving to areas closer to the city of Teramo for work. This home preserves the warmth and memories of generations, enveloping guests in an authentic family atmosphere. Over the years, various improvements have been made to make the environment even more welcoming, and only now, in 2025, have we decided to share this oasis of peace with you. Trekking and e-bike tours available by reservation with expert guides. DURING THE WINTER MONTHS, RESIDENCE 1 IS HEATED / HOT WATER VIA A WOOD-BURNING STOVE, WHICH YOU’LL FIND ON THE PREMISES. P.S.: Our location currently has no cell phone signal coverage, but the property offers unlimited Wi-Fi. However, about 500–600 metres away, you can make calls since there is coverage there. My name is Luca, and I’ve always had a deep connection to this land. The house, which belonged to my family, was more than just a building: it was memory, roots, and identity. Over time, I felt the need not only to restore it but to breathe new life and meaning into it, creating a welcoming place where others could discover the hidden wonders of this area. I strongly believe in the value of the Laga region: wild, authentic, rich in history and emotion. The Residenza Re Manfredi is my way of sharing all this and contributing to the rebirth of a corner of Abruzzo that deserves to be experienced, loved, and shared. Macchia da Sole, a hamlet in the municipality of Valle Castellana, is a little gem nestled among the Monti della Laga, where time seems to have stood still. This village, with its rustic and authentic charm, is the ideal starting point for exploring a region rich in history, nature, and spirituality. 🌄 In Macchia da Sole, Castel Manfrino—evocative and mysterious, perched on a rocky outcrop—dominates the surrounding landscape. Dating back to the Swabian period, it is linked to the figure of Manfredi of Swabia and offers breathtaking views. Scenery and tranquility: Macchia da Sole is the perfect place to recharge amidst woods, trails, and spectacular views of the Castellano valley. Rural traditions: the old stone houses, fountains, and slow pace of life still evoke the way of life of days gone by. 🏞 Nearby Salinello Gorges (15 min): a natural wonder carved out by water between imposing rock walls. A hiking trail suitable for everyone, rich in history and legends linked to hermits. Hermitage of St. Francis and Cave of St. Angelo: places of great spiritual charm, immersed in greenery and tranquility. Valle Castellana (10 min): the municipal seat, home to medieval ruins and picturesque views. San Vito: a village with a strong religious tradition and spectacular panoramic views. Pietralta, Morrice, Leofara: small villages waiting to be discovered by those who love to lose themselves among narrow alleys, little churches, and ancient stories. 🚴♂️ Activities: Hiking and guided excursions in the Monti Gemelli and Monti della Laga; e-bike rentals to explore the area actively and sustainably; nature photography, birdwatching, and wild herb foraging; summer events centred on culture, gastronomy, and traditional music.
