This is a real medieval castle! You travel in time when staying at Giomici. The hosts are a wonderful team, excellent communication and service. The room was comfortable and super-clean. We stayed once for the supper, it was tasty and reasonably priced. The breakfast was plenty and fresh. The locally produced coffee was a nice surprise.
We booked the stay last minute, not really knowing what to expect. We were happily surprised to find a 900 year old castle on the top of the hill, with its own church (which we were given the keys to see ourselves), towers and old hallways. The house was on 3 floors with 4 bedrooms, perfect for the 4 adults and 4 kids in our group, plus a rooftop with amazing views. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. Considering the price, it might be the best value for money place I've ever stayed in. I'd definitely recommend.
Although the furnishings may be outdated, and the castle is a good drive uphill on an Italian twisty-road… we were very happy with our stay here: it’s a castle room! We enjoyed it. Be prepared for bird song in the morning, and beautiful valley vistas. Bring your wine and snacks: there are no shops around! Breakfast was included and it was good. Parking is a bit downhill but on property. Add 15 minutes to your expected drive to all area attractions and you will be fine. Enjoy Giomici castle!
Amazing place.Stunning views.Very comfortable and spacious . However there was no breakfast provided .on the first day .only coffee nothing else we were told "We had a structural issue in the kitchen we are still trying to fix, we only have hot beverages and some packed pastry"there was no pastry .The second day we were told no coffee or pastries we had to purchase an expresso.
Bellissima location in castello medievale.
The castle is lovely, it's a real 12th century historical site quite far from the nearest village (unless you drive there by car). It looks like it's a fantastic place to hide from the rest of the world at summer. Unfortunately, at winter it's quite chilly in the room (which is a peculiarity of all castles I guess) and you won't be able to enjoy outdoor facilities as much as you could when it's warmer. The host is very friendly and helpful. All in all, I recommend you to check out the castle, especially during warmer months.
nicely refurbished medieval castle in a beautiful, quiet location with a great view. Andrea, the owner, will give you a private tour of the Giomici property and good advice about where to eat or visit.
The castle is restored in a very nice way. The room we had had a decent and harmonious interiour. It is perfectly feasible for a relaxing stay. Around the castle there are many interesting villages with medieval history to visit.
For a special dinner a tasty homemade meal with local products and wine was served in a very nice atmosphere of the (small) old knights hall.
Camere arredate a tema e molto confortevoli.
The Castle experience per se was great, but it was surprising that at checkout i was asked to pay for the stay although I already prepaid for it via hotels.com
I ended up disputing the charge and getting a lecture by my credit card collection department on how to blame hotel.com rather than the hotel owner, which was clearly wrong as I never ran into such situation with hotels.com so i trust them way more than credit cards operators and shady hotels owners
