"We love the decor. I was blessed to run into an older woman who showed me some of the phongraphs and music boxes in the lobby. They have an old Toyota car out front that is beautiful. The coffee area was a nice place to take a break and read. We stayed in the traditional room which had tatami mats and futons. The air conditioning worked great fighting the Kyushu humid summer. The only drawback was the water pressure. Overall it was low and I think they rely on the hot spring for water so it takes a while for the water to warm."

Apahotel Sagaeki-Minamiguchi

"The hotel room was a really good size, had a lot of room to place our luggage out. I loved how close it was to the train station, very walkable and convenient location! Only gripe was the AC does not work very well, it wasn't hot but defiantly wasn't cold at the max setting. There was a sign up explaining that there wasn't a designated AC per room, but rather for the whole hotel, so custom settings wouldn't work well. If you are okay with a warmer room, like during summer, I think it is perfect! But for me personally it was hard to sleep at night."

HOTEL SAKURA URESHINO

HOTEL SAKURA URESHINO

10/10 Excellent
"Clean and spacious room. Staff were helpful and welcoming. Parking was free and good enough. Need to contact staff when the main parking lot was full though. Buffer dinner and breakfast were excellent. But during golden week, there were a lot of guests and a bit crowded. The attractions were excellent but sparse and so the area was better to visit with your own car. During golden week, dinner and breakfast were not optional and that costed more than other period."

"The hotel is right next to the train station, which is very convenient if you’re traveling around the area. The rooftop onsen is small but great for relaxing your muscles after a long day of walking. The breakfast is one of the best free breakfasts I’ve had, there are plenty of options to choose from. The staff were very helpful, they helped me figure out my luggage shipment."

You'll find these establishments dotted along the main roads leading into the onsen district, often with views of the surrounding rural landscape. It's a peaceful setting that encourages relaxation and a slower pace.Couples looking for a romantic and restorative getaway will find the Ushizu Onsen area particularly appealing. Many ryokan offer private onsen baths, exquisite multi-course kaiseki dinners, and a chance to experience traditional Japanese hospitality. The focus here is on unwinding and enjoying the natural springs and fine cuisine. For solo travellers seeking a tranquil retreat, staying in a ryokan in the Ushizu Onsen area provides a wonderful opportunity for self-care and cultural immersion.
