Short stopover
We stayed for 1 night on the way through to the next destination. The location is lovely, the house is neat and tidy the only thing we didn’t like was the fact that there are no curtains in the bedrooms, it makes it a little uncomfortable and difficult to sleep/change when traveling with friends. Also the breakfast that was included in the price was a little disappointing.

Beautiful secluded hideaway
This was a beautiful place to stay, Chantelle was accomodating and very easy to communicate with. The cottage was clean and surprisingly very spacious, and had all the necessary amenities. The hammock on the porch was my favourite part particularly in the morning with all the beautiful birds dancing around. The cottage itself is nestled between towering trees down a 200m fully paved driveway so it can feel a little isolated, if you are not used to this type of setting it can feel a little unnerving at first, however i found the experience of that to be pretty awesome. Some reviews mentioned the steep driveway was difficult to navigate however it has been paved very well. I had no concerns going up or down it. Overall a great spot if you love nature and wish to feel amongst it, would stay again

Away from it all!
A great place to get away from it all. Isolated in a wooded heaven this is an amazing place to stay. Communication was great, as was the Cottage, thanks!

Our stay was okay. It was a little too rustic for this city girl though. The cottage was nice but a little tired. The grounds were very secluded and very quiet. A very steep downward hill to get to the property. Inside there were no curtains so I felt a little exposed even though no other houses were around. The sheets were very rough. Our complimentary breakfast consisted of a loaf of bread. There were ants in the sugar. It was nice to have running water and a clothes washer and dryer. Air conditioning was turned off when we arrived on a warm day and it never did work properly for us. Communication was okay. Took about 2 hours to get a reply when asking about the a/c since we were told in our first instructions not to use it.

Please be aware that this property is a the bottom of an EXTREMELY steep drive way- small cars would definitely struggle- My Honda CRV in low gear certainly was. The shower has a very large shower head with extremely low pressure- the tank water pump obviously can't cope with the surface area. Be sure to ask for the second bed to be made up if you need it. Beware that I had no mobile reception at the property - I'm with Kogan who use the Vodaphone network. Telstra customers may be fine. Host was friendly via Stayz messaging and property was clean.

Hi Emma, thanks for your review. The driveway is professionally sealed in asphalt the entire way (200m long which cost an absolute fortune) to make it easy to travel on. One section is steep but I can’t say why you had trouble getting up the driveway in low gear. The cottage is on tank water with a pump and the water pressure may not be as good as in the city - but it is a part off grid bush retreat not a city property. The listing says to request the second bedroom to be made up as it’s usually couples that book this property. Mobile phone reception at the cottage varies which is why I provide a free land line to use. The cottage also has free wifi. As a side note I’m with Telstra and I do get good reception at the property. My cottage clearly wasn’t the right property for your needs.

Our stay at Tallowwood Cottage.
A great cottage and location. Some signs of reparations still underway like TV antenna needed installation and ceilings painted. Insufficient food for breakfasts (advertised as included) and no paper towels or tea towels. Quality inclusions but not enough cereal bowls or small plates. These issues are easily fixed and would put a finishing touch to an otherwise very comfortable accommodation in a delightful setting.

Thanks for your feedback Allan, I’m happy to hear you had a great stay. Just to clarify, a new roof was installed a few days before your arrival which is why the antenna was installed during your stay. I apologise for this inconvenience again. The internal ceilings are natural chipboard as it has been since my grandparents built the cottage and are not proposed to be painted. I provide a jar of handmade granola and some cereals as well as a selection of spreads. a selection of teas, espresso coffee, sugar, milk (cow and usually a plant based milk). Sometimes eggs, Up and Go’s, juice and bread are provided but often these go unconsumed (as was the case during your stay with regards to the granola and cereal which were provided). Tea towels are located in the bottom draw in the kitchen. Paper towel is not always provided though. There are 4 big bowls, two soup bowls and no small plates but about 14 dinner plates as well as about 10 coffee cups and highballs. I have put 4 small plates in the cottage today. I appreciate your feedback and always aim to improve. Take care.

Amazing location
Lovely little cottage nestled away in a very private fern glen. The extra touches of beer and milk in the fridge were very welcome after our long drive. I was very impressed with how well stocked the kitchen was - everything we needed was there ! Great little hideaway off the beaten track.

Great location
Great communication then it stopped. 6 days waiting for a reply necessitating Vrbo to intervene. Door code required a reminder msg then received at 1700hr the day prior. Chantelle was a lovely host but lacks the level of professionalism required. Milk opened in fridge. Eggs out of date and the promise of a little wine provided as advertised was 2 bottles opened with 20mm left in bottles. 6 beers were there as promised (we are non-drinkers) Apart from the irritating poor errors in good house practice the location set with 360 degree rainforest was superb. A great base camp with a little more effort.

Hi Mike, thanks for your review. I’ll take your feedback on board. The fridge and cupboards had lots of free food and drinks it’s very disappointing that you have complained about this. I was slow to respond to one message which I apologise for. That message related to instructions which I already advised I would send the day before your arrival in prior messages and information which can be found in the listing. I contact all guests the day before arrival in the evening - you at the moment of 5pm couldn’t wait again and had to contact me assuming I had “forgot”. Day before arrival contact is the common procedure I follow with all guests (as the door code changes every day). For some reason you were very pushy with receiving the instructions and doing things on your time. Your other messages regarding local tourist suggestions and to clarify that you had made the correct booking dates as you for some unknown reason said your dates were showing up as available on the Vrbo website were all promptly responded to. Due to your feedback and the manner in which you left the cottage too I wouldn’t host you again. I also didn’t appreciate you arriving unannounced 2 hours prior to check in. I found it actually quite rude and pushy. All the best.

Forest sanctuary
Lovely, immaculate cottage secluded in glorious forest. It was a delight to wake to the dawn chorus & light coming softly through the trees. Generous breakfast provisions from host. It would be useful to have precise information on how to access walking trails which, it seems, are a drive away; It is not possible to walk into the forest from the cottage.
