Stayed at Lions Rest several times before. Convenient place to stay when arriving in Upington to go to Kalahari. Family run - very friendly. Fixtures and fittings are getting a bit 'tired' and in need of refreshing.

The rooms are unfortunately not soundproof, which can be challenging when travelling for business. Noise from other guests’ televisions and conversations carries easily through the walls, which can make it difficult to rest properly. This is something to keep in mind when booking a stay here.

Convenient property. Get an upstairs room if possible since you can hear people walking upstairs and talking. Price is reasonable so it gets 5 stars overall. Stayed here many years ago when they first opened. No breakfast due to COVID changes. Good wifi internet. Stairs are somewhat steep so not good if you have any disabilities.

Excellent B and B avec un bon petit dejeuner est des chambres coquettes. Les patrons sont également très sympa. En revanche Uptington n'est qu'une ville étape sans intérêt.

Een warm bad in Upington

Mooie kamer, lekker bed, minikoelkast met flesjes water, ruime kast en tafel en ruime badkamer. Alles wat je nodig hebt, is aanwezig. Zo niet, dan regelt Christal dat alsnog voor je. Ze staat 24/7 voor je klaar. Ik was ziek toen ik daar aankwam. Ze gaf me de namen van de medicijnen en de plaats waar ze gehaald konden worden. Het voelt al snel als familie, al die goede zorgen. Heel sfeervol al dat hout. Gratis WiFi, genoeg ruimte om te parkeren. Terras waar ontbeten kan worden met prachtig weids uitzicht. Heel rustig, maar toch vlak bij restaurants, tankstation en winkelcentrum.

Leuk, rustig hotel waar de klant echt koning is

Goede kamer met lekker bed. De eigenaars zijn zeer klantvriendelijk. We hadden een probleem met een van onze apparaten en ze zijn een toetsenbord en kabel uit hun kantoor verderop in de stad gaan halen! Ze denken met je mee, geven goede tips voor restaurants en uitstapjes, maar ze kunnen ook avondeten voor je regelen. Ze zijn 24 uur per dag bereikbaar voor hun gasten. Ontbijten op het terras is heerlijk. Er staan flesjes water in de koelkast op je hotelkamer en is voldoende plaats om je spullen op te ruimen. Als ik iets moet noemen om te zeuren: het water in de douche op een goede temperatuur krijgen vergt wat oefening, en een extra plankje in de badkamer zou fijn zijn. Kortom: gewoon doen. Oprijlaan is nogal steil, maar dat gebeurt vaker in RSA.

Fantastic experience!

What an incredible place to stay! My girlfriend and I were en route to the Kalahari Transfrontier Park and decided to stay at the Kalahari Lion's Rest for a night, and then head to the park the next morning (the drive from here to the Twee Rivieren Gate to the park is a quick 2:30 hours ). The room and bathroom were immaculately clean and styled in the fashion of traditional South African decor. The AC units and comfortable beds were a godsend after our many hours spent on the road. Henco and his wife Christal were incredible hosts to say the least, he waited up for us as we arrived later than expected after our mobile phone had died, and the following morning she cooked us an unbelievable breakfast as we gazed out at the incredible view of the surrounding vineyards. We felt safe, comfortable, and incredibly welcome throughout the duration of our stay. We even ended up staying another night for some well deserved R&R after our time in the bush at the national park. If you're searching for accommodation in Upington, look no further!
