Das Siebengebirge, südöstlich gelegen von Bonn, ist ein Mittelgebirge vulkanischen Ursprungs mit mehr als 50 Bergen und Anhöhen. Mit einer Fläche von 4.272,9764 ha bleibt hier sowohl Tier- als auch Pflanzenwelt eine zum Teil vom Menschen unberührte Natur und Ruhezone erhalten, die zurecht unter strengsten Schutzregeln steht. Hier zu sehen ist der sich auf dem Rheinwesterwälder Vulkanrücken befindliche Asberg mit Basaltsee, der einen idealen Lebensraum für eine Vielzahl von bedrohten Amphibien bietet. Ausfindig machen ließ sich der See schon alleine durch den lautstarken Froschgesang des Teichfrosches. Dort angekommen blieb auch die Begegnung mit der wasserfreudigen Ringelnatter und einer hier sehr seltenen Gelbbauchunke nicht aus.

Room was spotless and staff were very accommodating. Only negatives were the pool was closed for maintenance during our stay and unfortunately the roof top restaurant was closed on the Sunday which has amazing views of the Rhein.
