About this property
Converted Watermill With Beautiful River And Majestic Mountains On Doorstep
Follow the river to find Y Felin – a beautifully converted 16 century water mill in the breathtaking Dysynni Valley and Snowdonia National Park. Lying beneath the majestic mountain of Cader Idris and within walking distance of Llyn Mwyngil (Tal y Llyn), set into the hillside in a peaceful and secluded riverside location. Sympathetically restored to retain its distinctive features: the surroundings are light, airy and welcoming.
Fully equipped kitchen (Nespresso coffee machine, microwave, cooker, fridge, dishwasher, toaster) great open plan living space with huge comfy sofas, a wood burner, and picture windows onto the stunning landscape.
Large outdoor space takes in all the views and has table, chairs, BBQ. Fenced private 'garden' of approx 2 acres - please note the river is unfenced and there are short steep drops in the garden.
The house sleeps up to 8 guests in 3 bedrooms (please note the third bedroom is two bunk beds and not a large room). The master bedroom has private access to the river and a wood-burner. The house offers retreat, relaxation, natural beauty, fine linens and the perfect blend of quality time and access to activities. Nearby are thriving historic market towns including Machynlleth (weekly market and CAT) and the seaside town of Aberdyfi with its miles of sandy beaches, outdoor activities and yachting. Plenty of local leisure opportunities including mountain biking at Coed Y Brenin, fishing, kayaking, sailing, mountaineering. Visit castles, zip wires, steam trains. Or just stay indoors and watch beautiful, natural world go by through the big picture windows. Y Felin has very good WiFi (free), TV, separate utilities room with washing machine and dryer.

Y Félin is such a special place to stay - beautifully situated by a river in the most stunning countryside. The cottage is really spacious and comfortable, pet friendly and to a high standard. Would totally recommend and we will be back
Absolutely beautiful place. Set in the most dramatic surroundings but perfectly peaceful. The house itself was clean with a large open plan living space, which is perfect if you have children with you. Once we got the heating going it stayed very warm for our whole stay. The kitchen had everything you’d need and thankfully there was a Nespresso coffee maker! All of us slept well as the beds and bedding were very comfortable. Honestly couldn’t fault the place.
Our stay was amazing- location, size and surroundings are fantastic….!
We stayed 5 people and house is large to accommodate and amenities are all handy… from dishwasher to cooking areas and dishes huge living room with a lot of book, films, games
Can’t wait to come back soon
We loved our stay at Y Felin. The property is spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Access to the surrounding farmland was excellent. We walked to the nearby pub on the lake and over the hills to Castell y Bere and Abergynolwyn. Views from every room are stunning. We loved just sitting on the terrace and listening to the stream, the lambs and birds. So relaxing.
Can't fault the location or surroundings for a very relaxing break.
Beware before arriving local village shop is closed.
Tywyn beach is in easy reach and was a lovely place to visit .
Real WOW factor cottage set in a quiet remote location. The cottage was very clean and very cozy with amazing views direct from the very comfy relaxing living area. Everything you could need is there. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
Ruth’s property was incredible, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and even extended an additional night. The property and location was fantastic and couldn’t have asked for more, we brought our dog who also enjoyed the area and walks. Will definitely be returning for another visit as it ticked all the boxes for our holiday.
The location and accommodation was perfect for what we were looking for.
Although it was lambing season and it limited us to where we could walk with the dogs it was the right time of year to walk them on the nearby beaches!
If you need a comfortable homely get away from it all place to stay, then this is the place to go. Highly recommended.
What a wonderful stay in this hidden gem of a property in an idyllic location. The property is very comfortable and well equipped with everything you could need. Wood burners add the perfect cosy touch.
The views all around are beautiful and the sound of the river was so relaxing. We hope to go back soon x
A great long weekend, very lucky with some sunny and dry weather. Cycled the Mawddach Trail, visited local villages and towns (although some things were closed as out of season). The property is well furnished and the photos don’t do the location or the quality of the property justice, very private and peaceful with amazing river and Mountain views. Highly recommended.
Wow, everything was amazingly, the property , location, surroundings, cannot recommend highly enough, property was supplied with everything you need , location next to the river amazing, walks right off the doorstep, was perfect for us , 6 Adults, 1 child (4yr) and a lively dog, loads of room for everyone and big table to all enjoy dinner together, waterfalls few miles away which were unbelievable as we had thebacj end of hurricane Lee , so lots of water , 5 stars all day long
I cannot tell you how much we all needed this space. We're collectively kicking ourselves that we didn't book for longer, but hey, it's a damn good excuse to come back (as soon as humanely possible).
Surrounded by woodlands, hills and water is easily the best place to be and I think we've found a 'forever' holiday get away here.
Everything was perfect.
The location was fantastic, we loved looking out of the window and seeing sheep and cows in the garden. The views were amazing that sometimes we found ourselves just watching the little lambs and calves wandering around outside. The property itself was well appointed and we had everything we needed. It looked exactly as it did online. We had some questions on the property prior to booking and Ruth was quick to respond. The information pack sent prior to arrival provided lots of info on walks, restaurants etc.We loved the place and would definitely return. If anyone is looking for a peaceful retreat with lots of gorgeous walks on your doorstep, I would 100% recommend.
We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house, a rare family mini-break now our children are older. The only noises we could hear was the river next to the house and the sheep bleating, bliss.Ruth was extremely quick in replying to my messages which was very reassuring. The only note I will add is that the short road leading down to the house is very uneven and our daughter's MR2 car only just managed to drive down without grounding. You will not be disappointed if you book this, yes it's on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for and we loved it
Stayed at the converted watermill with my husband for his 50th birthday with friends. From the time we drove up to the property we were amazed how stunning it was aswell as the location, the views were out of this world and the perfect place to relax and unwind which was exactly what we wanted.Extremely well equipped with everything you require for your stay and Ruth the owner was extremely helpful and accommodating. We will definitely be rebookung at some point next year it was just magical thankyou Ruth.
Awesome views of mountains from picture windows with river frontage. Isolated location but brilliantly located for walking. Local towns a short drive away for all your essentials.
Ideal for keen walkers and nature lovers - otters in river next to house and loads of birdlife.
House is inverted - lounge really spacious with well equipped kitchen. Perfect retreat for those rainy days with good WiFi
Our stay at Y Felin was fantastic. Ruth, the host, had told us it was a special place and this proved true in every way. The setting is rather secluded yet very easy to access (by car), the scenery is absolutely breathtaking, and the house itself was a total delight to stay in. Everything is well-designed, with quality furniture and generous supplies for all our basic needs. The house, which is quite spacious, sits on a farm, so every day you are surrounded by peaceful grazing sheep and the sound of the flowing river nearby. There's no one else around to distract you. Hiking or more relaxed strolls abound as soon as you step out. And accommodations, groceries, etc. are easily accessible (about 20 mins drive). We would come back in a heartbeat!
beautifully situated holiday home in beautiful surroundings
Beautiful and large private area! Rural location with lots of grass, trees and the stream. The private area is fully fenced. The house is completely separated from the farm by a forest edge, the stream and fences. Sheep and cows graze peacefully outside the fences. If necessary, there is a quick and pleasant contact with Mrs Ruth or the farmer.
The area is truly beautiful, it offers the opportunity to walk/hike in the south and north of Snowdonia. Snowdon mountain is a 75 minutes ride by car. Beautiful, unspoilt nature! Nice and spacious house. Nice sofas and beds.
We highly recommend this stay!
Ruth was a great host, she sent a fantastic detailed information pack about everything for the house and things in the local area. She was very communcative and it was very easy to check in. The house is surrounded by beautiful scenery and the river is lovely to watch and listen to. We really enjoyed watching the animals at the farm from the windows too. We enjoyed a trip to the local waterfalls which we took the lobely Tal Y Llyn steam railway to get to. We also enjoyed a refreshinf swim in the Tal Y Lyn lake however i recommend walking there from the house as the only place to park is a hotel with strict and pricey parking. The walk is along the main road with jo pavement but its fairly quiet and we had no problems. We all really enjoyed the trip and have already said that we wild definitely go back to the area and the house.
