Newly Renovated Coastal Retreat

Newly Renovated Coastal Retreat

8/10 Good
"This was a fine place to stay - it was spacious, had a very useable kitchen and we were glad of the washing machine. The en-suite bathroom was new and had a good shower. Given the very remote location though it would have been nice to have had some milk provided (which we’ve found everywhere else). "

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Tyringa?
The best area to stay in Tyringa is the town centre, particularly around Main Street, as it offers the most convenient access to local amenities and attractions. The town centre is the heart of Tyringa, where you'll find most of the shops, cafes, and local eateries. Main Street is easily walkable and home to historical buildings, including the old post office and the town hall. It's also the departure point for many local tours and excursions into the surrounding wine region.Couples looking for a relaxed yet engaging stay will find the town centre ideal. They can enjoy leisurely strolls, browse local boutiques, and dine at quality restaurants without needing to travel far. The proximity to cellar doors means wine-tasting experiences are just a short drive away, making it great for a romantic getaway. For those travelling with family, staying slightly off Main Street but still within the town centre provides a good balance. These areas often have accommodations with more space and are still close enough to walk to parks and child-friendly cafes.
When is the best time to go to Tyringa?
The best time to go to Tyringa is during the shoulder seasons of autumn (March to May) and spring (September to November), when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller.During autumn, you'll experience mild temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, making it ideal for exploring the region's wineries and national parks without the intense heat of summer. The grape harvest usually takes place in late summer to early autumn, so visiting in April or May allows you to witness the vineyards in their post-harvest glory and enjoy the changing colours of the landscape. It's a particularly good time for couples looking for a relaxed, scenic getaway.Spring offers similar agreeable temperatures, usually between 15°C and 25°C, and the countryside is lush and green after the winter rains. Wildflowers are in bloom, adding a beautiful touch to the natural scenery. This season is superb for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling, and many local produce markets are in full swing. Families will find spring a great time to visit, with plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventures and farm experiences before the peak summer rush. While summer (December to February) brings hot, dry weather, often exceeding 30°C, it's also the peak tourist season, especially around the Christmas and New Year period. Winter (June to August) is cooler and wetter, with temperatures around 10°C to 18°C, and can be lovely for cosy winery visits and enjoying open fires.
