8/10 Good
"The resort is lovely although a little remote, we felt for a weeks trip we really had to hire a car. Some things promoted do not exist, such as hiking trails around the resort or biking- there are no bikes available. None of the pools are heated, so in October they are cold and very few people ventured in. The ninja course was excellent, but very little for teenagers to do apart from this. We booked the padel court, but that is one booking a day and has to be done from reception. Fitness classes were good, but difficult to get bookings for - they filled up quickly. The staff were mainly from the Philippines, worked really hard and were great with the children. The food is good and all booked via the app, it is just a shame in a 7 night stay you only get to go to 3 of the 4 à la carte restaurants. The bar staff and drinks were really good, with great choices of cocktails and wines. The room was lovely, and kept beautifully clean. Overall a good hotel at the price paid, so happy."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Tripitos?
The best area to stay in Tripitos is the main town of Tripitos, especially around the harbour and the old town.

This central area is the heart of activity, offering a delightful mix of traditional Cretan charm and modern conveniences. You'll find a pedestrian-friendly layout with narrow, winding streets leading to various shops, tavernas, and cafes. The harbourfront is a focal point, with fishing boats bobbing gently and restaurants offering fresh seafood. The old town, just a short walk from the harbour, is characterised by its Venetian and Ottoman architecture, with quaint squares and historic churches.

Couples will find this area particularly appealing due to its romantic setting and the ease of access to evening strolls along the harbour or through the atmospheric old town. Many hotels here offer rooms with sea views, and the selection of intimate restaurants provides plenty of options for special evenings out. The proximity to the Archaeological Museum of Tripitos also offers a cultural highlight for those interested in the island's rich history.

For those looking for a relaxed yet engaging holiday, the area around the main town provides everything you need within easy reach.
When is the best time to go to Tripitos?
For a superb balance of pleasant weather and fewer crowds, the best times to visit Tripitos are typically in May, early June, September, and early October.

These shoulder seasons offer warm, sunny days ideal for exploring the island's beaches and historical sites without the intense heat and larger crowds of the peak summer months. You'll find that many businesses are fully operational, and the sea is warm enough for swimming.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will particularly enjoy May and September. The island feels more relaxed, allowing for leisurely meals at seaside tavernas and peaceful strolls along the coast. It's an excellent time for enjoying the natural beauty of the island, from the olive groves to the pristine beaches, with a sense of calm.

Families travelling with children might find early June or early October ideal.
