"The room was very clean and in great condition. The bed was super comfy and the pillows were nice and plush. The closet was a huge walk in style so I was able to unpack and not have to feel like living out of a luggage bag. I loved the in room refrigerator. The shower was powerful and luxurious. Internet connected easy and was a good speed for working. Being an American speaking English only all staff was kind and spoke English for me. I felt right at home."

"This is a beautiful old hotel property. It has great bones and the rooms have been updated and modernized nicely. That said, there are some very quirky aspects to the property. Firstly, there is no reception - just an automated machine that provides a key card. This means that there is no one to ask about parking, amenities etc. The second thing is that no one speaks English at all. The cleaning staff was very sweet but could not speak a word. We had to use Google Translate for all...

Recent Reviews in Trebula

Hotel Schloss Schweinsburg

Hotel Schloss Schweinsburg

10/10 Excellent
"Beautiful hotel set in nice grounds. The main building used to be a palace. We were allocated a room in the adjoining building. When we first arrived, we were told that they were full, despite us having booked in advance. But this was soon sorted out. Our room was clean and tidy and spacious. It had a slanted ceiling right above the bed, so we had to be careful getting in and out. The wifi was not very strong in the room but luckily we did not really need it for anything special. The restaurant offered a buffet or the a la carte menu. The buffet looked a bit lacking so we chose the menu and the food was excellent. We can highly recommend the pork schnitzel and the salmon. Parking free and on site. All in all, a lovely place to stay."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Trebula?
The best area to stay in Trebula is around the historic Altstadt (Old Town), particularly near the Marktplatz (Market Square).

The Altstadt is the heart of Trebula, characterised by its well-preserved mediaeval architecture and cobbled streets. The Marktplatz is a central point, often featuring local markets, and is surrounded by a selection of cafes and shops. Key landmarks like the Rathaus (Town Hall) and the Stadtkirche St. Georg (Church of St. George) are within easy walking distance.

Couples looking for a romantic and convenient stay will find the Altstadt perfect. You'll be steps away from historic sites, independent boutiques, and restaurants offering local Thuringian cuisine. Evening strolls through the charming streets are particularly enjoyable.

For solo travellers who appreciate history and convenience, staying within the Altstadt offers easy access to Trebula's main attractions and museums.
When is the best time to go to Trebula?
The best time to visit Trebula, Thuringia, Germany, is during the late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

These shoulder seasons offer comfortable temperatures for exploring the region's outdoor attractions and historical sites without the peak summer tourist numbers. You'll find the countryside green and blooming in spring, while autumn brings beautiful foliage.

For those keen on outdoor activities, late spring is ideal for hiking or cycling through the Thuringian Forest, as the weather is mild and the paths are generally dry. Many of the local vineyards also start to open their tasting rooms for the season.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate early autumn. The cooler, crisp air and stunning colours of the changing leaves provide a beautiful backdrop for strolls through Trebula's historic town centre or visits to nearby castles.
