Montegrande, Casa de Alta Montaña Rodeada de un Paisaje Idílico

10/10 Excellent
"Amazing place at the top of a very rural and quiet village. Stunning place to experience the 2026 solar eclipse!! We loved our stay and Mari was very hospitable, answering my many questions quickly and thoroughly. The home is comfortable and has good working WiFi and a washing machine. The community is friendly and helpful though not many people were around when we were there.A few things I wish I had known well in advance:1) It’s very important to bring a car that can handle narrow streets and steep inclines. It’s a tough area to drive in and we avoided going up and down as much as possible. 2) There are some very loud and aggressive dogs in the village, so watch after your children if traveling as a family. We only saw 5 other people in the Villa while we were there, you can plan to have a lot of solo time (and if anything were to go wrong you’d be on your own).3) There are no grocery stores nearby so plan ahead and bring food from Oviedo or Leon, or you’ll go hungry!! manolo’s at Paramo at the base of the mountain has an excellent restaurant where you can eat like royalty for 22 euros or less, though!4) Check for road closures…we got stuck in the village for a while because the road north was closed during the day. Plan well in advance!"

10/10 Excellent
"Absolutely enchanting!! This is run by a couple with their kids and nephew - the took ruins and transformed it into a beautiful retreat for tourists. The suite was gorgeous and spacious. Loved the contrast of the dark wood and the stone/bricks. We had views of the mountains and it was so peaceful. Breakfast was included with delicious coffee and variety of baked goods, jambon, and fruit. The family is well traveled and it was lovely sharing stories of our travels. The owner recommended an ice cream shop in the next town with homemade ice cream - which we did and it was incredible (try the hazelnut and blueberry)! What a wonderful stay!"

8/10 Good
"Beautiful property. Grounds & rooms aesthetically pleasing. Pool was nice & drinks were delicious. Not the most practical place - small kitchen with no dish cloth, pots/pans, dish soap. The property’s restaurant is closed Monday - Wednesday and there aren’t a lot of options for dining. We went to the grocery store since we couldn’t find a restaurant nearby w/availability until 9:30. You are limited with what you can prepare due to the lack of equipment. Just keep this in mind. Sofa cover dirty and needed to be washed, food residue from prior guests on table when we arrived."

What is the best area to stay in Traslacruz?
The best area to stay in Traslacruz is the central area around Plaza Mayor, offering convenient access to local attractions and dining. This neighbourhood is the heart of Traslacruz, featuring traditional Asturian architecture and a pedestrian-friendly layout. Plaza Mayor is the focal point, surrounded by historic buildings, cafes, and local shops. The area extends slightly along Calle Real, which is known for its artisan boutiques and eateries.Couples often find this area ideal for a relaxed and romantic break. You're just a short stroll from the Traslacruz Museum, showcasing local history and art, and the tranquil Parque de la Fuente, great for an afternoon walk. Evenings can be spent enjoying traditional Asturian cuisine at one of the many restaurants lining the square. For solo travellers, staying near Plaza Mayor provides a comfortable and engaging experience.
When is the best time to go to Traslacruz?
The best time to visit Traslacruz is generally during the late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to early October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds. These shoulder seasons offer a comfortable climate for exploring, with temperatures that are warm but not overly hot, and less rainfall than the winter months. You'll find that the natural beauty of the Asturian landscape, from the coastal paths to the Picos de Europa foothills, is particularly appealing during these times. It's an excellent period for couples or solo travellers looking to enjoy outdoor activities like hiking or cycling without the peak summer rush. For those prioritising warmer weather and a more lively option, the summer months of July and August are ideal. While it's the busiest time, the higher temperatures are great for enjoying the local beaches and the longer daylight hours allow for extended exploration. Families often find the summer great as it coincides with school holidays and there are usually more organised activities and events.
