"Drove 200 miles arrived at 9pm to be told that the only food option was crisps or peanuts! Would not even offer and sandwich. The following morning I waited for 20 minutes without service for breakfast! Left and visited a local coffee shop."

"An old fashioned hotel with a fabulous brealfast in the old dining room. Lots of open fires. Unforunately the hotel is built over several levels with lots of creaking stairs . You will need help with your lugguage and it was provided. Hotel can be a bit noisy with the pub across the road and nearby construction. Safety handrails would be useful for getting out of the shower/bath."

"I was extremely disappointed with the room and bathroom as there was black mould in the bathroom (behind the radiator and a bit in the ceiling) and in the room (behind in the curtain fabric). This is not a healthy environment particularly as I have a young child so very worrying. There was no reception staff to complain to. Also, the hot water sink tap was lose , the window could not be opened to air the room as a large furniture was placed in front of it. I have been to many hotel room thus was one was very poor. Extremely disappointing would not recommend."

"One night stay in this historic house now being used as a hotel located a short walking distance from Hawick centre set in an attractive garden with a wonderful park nearby. Lovely interior with large attractive lounge, entrance hallway and staircase. Large bedroom and en suite bathroom. The Large king-size bed was firm and therefore not that comfortable. Breakfast was a standard traditional option with cereal and juices. Not much interaction with staff except at check in and ordering breakfast. Short and to the point. Free car parking immediately outside hotel front entrance. I would recommend the hotel for a short stay purely for the novelty factor."

"Grounds and castle were beautiful. Unfortunately spa facility’s were not open, nor were 2 of the 3 restaurants. Service was somewhat inconsistent, especially at the bar. We sat for 10 minutes before bartender acknowledged us, only after me asking if we could get a drink. Same experience in the restaurant - one night was great and next night we weren’t even offered wine and drink list. Very odd."

Decor was a little tired and could do with a refresh (especially the bathroom - such a wasted opportunity not to put a bigger bath in there)! The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious - such a treat to have kippers, being on a ban at home for them! Would recommend and definitely stay again!"
