8.4 out of 10, Very good, (7 reviews)
"A great hotel with clean rooms and plenty of communal space in reception. Loads of parking. The only downside is that there is no restaurant. The free breakfast was very basic with no hot food. But the price was very good for the room. Very quiet and peaceful. The WIFI was a bit hit and miss in certain parts of the room. It is not too far from the town for restaurants and shops so having a car is necessary. Right next door to a petrol station which is handy for late night snacks."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Toxotes?
The best area to stay in Toxotes is generally in and around the village centre, as it offers the most convenient access to local amenities and the region's natural beauty.

The village of Toxotes itself is a small, traditional Greek settlement. It's well-known for its proximity to the Nestos River and the Nestos Gorge, making it a prime location for those interested in outdoor activities. The centre features a few local tavernas and shops, providing a pleasant, unhurried pace of life.

For couples seeking an active and relaxing escape, staying near the Nestos River is ideal. Many accommodations in this area offer easy access to activities like rafting, kayaking, and hiking along well-marked trails through the gorge. The natural surroundings provide a peaceful backdrop for a romantic getaway.

Solo travellers looking for adventure and connection with nature will also find Toxotes appealing. The opportunities for outdoor sports, birdwatching, and exploring the unique ecosystem of the Nestos Delta are plentiful.
When is the best time to go to Toxotes?
The best time to go to Toxotes depends on your preference for weather and activities, but generally, late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to early October) offer the most pleasant conditions.

During late spring, the weather is comfortably warm, with average temperatures ranging from 20°C to 25°C. The landscape is lush and green, and wildflowers are in bloom, making it ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the Nestos River Delta and the surrounding hiking trails. It's also a good time for outdoor activities like kayaking or birdwatching without the intense heat of summer.

Early autumn also provides excellent weather, with temperatures similar to late spring, typically between 18°C and 23°C. The summer crowds have thinned out, and the water in the Nestos River is still warm enough for swimming or water sports. This period is particularly good for those who enjoy hiking or exploring historical sites in a more peaceful setting.
