About this property
Log Cabin on the River w/Hot Tub
Boone and surrounding towns are open to tourists again!
Discover a romantic getaway at our pet-friendly, riverfront log cabin on the New River, near Boone NC, with breathtaking mountain views and App State nearby. Our family and dog-friendly cabin features a hot tub, outdoor dining, and firepit for cozy nights. Embrace adventure with riverfront access for kayaking, fishing, and tubing. Current Hideaway the perfect escape in the heart of the NC mountains.
We are nestled in the valley along the New River in Todd, NC. Enjoy kayaking, tubing, fishing, paddleboarding, or canoeing right out the front door by using some provided equipment (kayaks, fishing poles, tubes) or by visiting Wahoo Adventures right across the river. We are 15 minutes to Boone and less than 30 minutes to Blowing Rock and West Jefferson. You will find great breweries and restaurants in nearby towns. With just a short drive you can access all the adventures the mountains have to offer including skiing, whitewater rafting, hiking, scenic overlooks, etc.
There is a driveway in the back you can access from the neighborhood directly behind the cabin with ample parking. You can also park in the front driveway but it is a bit steep, there is a limited turn around at the top. During winter months, AWD or 4WD may be required.
The river is located across the road. Most of the traffic is from local tubing/kayaking companies. There are several outfitters located along the river and at times the river can get busy with tubers and kayakers. You may enjoy sitting on the back porch or on the bench along the river watching people go by. The river is typically quiet by 6pm on those busy days.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The cabin is rustic, relaxing, and has a great location. We enjoyed the fire pit, corn hole, hot tub, game and book collection, and the view from the porch.
Spent a lovely Christmas here with family! The cabin is well stocked, immaculately clean, quiet and cozy! We especially enjoyed the fire pit outside, the game room downstairs and the hot tub outside overlooking the river. All the peace and solitude of the mountains with the convenience of being just 20 minutes from Boone!
This cabin was clean and cozy. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, game room, comfy beds, and stunning views. Our host was responsive and friendly. We even had a s’mores kit waiting for us when we arrived. We’d love to return when the weather is warmer.
This is such a cute cabin that has the perfect layout. It is a great size to fit our family. The kids favorite spot was the basement!!!The location of the cabin is great no matter what you have planned for your getaway.
This home was absolutely beautiful and they thought of everything! They had so many games, fun, books, etc. location is beautiful and a pretty drive into Boone. We will be back!
We loved our stay, the house was cozy and inviting, exactly as described, dog friendly, clean, well equipped with all sorts of games, a great outdoor fire pit and comfortable beds. The owner was very responsive and helpful when we had any question. A sweet spot I hope to revisit.
We had an incredible stay in the cabin! It was very comfortable, clean, and met all the expectations we had. My boys (5 and 10) really enjoyed the game room! The kitchen was well equipped so cooking/grilling was easy. The hot tub was a great addition, we loved enjoying a dip after time on the river. And location to Wahoo’s couldn’t be more convenient. We would stay here again!
The house is nice…and on a beautiful river. The host was exceptional with communication and details for our stay. Basement of the home was a hit for games and movies.Surrounding area is full of places to shop, hike and eat!
Excellent property. Great if you want to tube or kayak the river which is about 150 ft.away. Most pet friendly place I've stayed in. Well equiped kitchen and linens. Great game room. Only issue was the bank going into the river is about 6 feet straight down which makes access really tough.
We really enjoyed our stay. The kids loved fishing across the street and relaxing in the hot tub. The game room was outstanding - with foosball and pac man tournaments every day! Very dog friendly and the owner was responsive to questions and recommendations. Highly recommend this cabin - we will definitely be back!
We had a tremendous stay. The property is very clean. Or family, including our dog, felt very comfortable and at home. These are great hosts! We plan to go back.
We enjoyed our stay at Current Hideaway! Rooms were clean and bed was very comfortable. The hot tub was a nice feature as well!! This was a nice staycation to get away and enjoy the quiet scenery and view of the river. We definitely recommend this home for those looking to enjoy some quiet family time.
Note: Be careful of the bath tubs as they were very slippery when trying to exit.
We loved the house on the river with our family of 7 and our two dogs. Our daughter is a freshman at App State and she enjoyed staying with us. Even though the river was a bit chilly, we still had fun with kayaks and tubes. Great dog friendly house. We would return.
We had such a wonderful time at Current Hideway! The cabin is beautiful, comfortable, and perfect for our family Christmas get together. We even woke up to a dusting of snow in the morning! The cabin has everything you will need and the hot tub on the front porch was so clean and relaxing. Sitting in it while it snowed was wonderful. Lori was so accommodating and quick to respond to any questions I had. One of the best rentals we ever stayed at!
Really nice property and the owner was super nice. Great amenities; hot tub, tubes for tubing down the river, kayaks etc. The only tradeoff, is you have great privacy but not convenient to town. We are seriously considering renting this again next year, however, we will plan our meals better, so we can stock up more. Other than that, highly recommended.
Very well stocked with any kitchen implements, you may need and basics. Trash pick up. You don’t have to find a dump to dispose of your trash. Air conditioning set at 71, not 78 like other places we stayed. Hot tub fired up and ready to go. Availability of kayaks to explore the river.
All and all a delightful host.
We just got back from several days at this lovely cabin. It is he perfectly t place to stay if you like being able to sit on the porch and watch folks float by on tubes or walk down and throw in a fishing line. The canoe rental is right across the river so it's easy to walk over and rent a kayak for a great day of adventure. The cabin was perfect for two couples. It had everything we needed. It was great o sit on the porch and play cards at night or jump in the ho tub after a day on the river. Also, not too far from Boone if you wan to go into town, it's only about a fifteen minute drive.
Very highly recommended. Thanks so much!!!
Our family of 5 (and our dog) had a wonderful stay. Many thoughtful touches were included by the hosts (comfy blankets, a couple rolls of TP, a few dishwasher and washing machine tabs, hand and dish soap, etc.). The cabin was very clean and in good condition - really cozy! Kitchen was well stocked with enough dishes and silverware that you don't have to run the dishwasher after every meal as well as having all the cookware we needed. Lots of games, too! We discovered after the first night that the loft area does not have a direct AC vent, so you'll probably want to keep the upstairs bedroom door open at night and pack lightweight pjs. All in all, a great family vacation!
We had the absolute BEST time! This year we gave the older kids the option to have an experience or gifts for Christmas. They all voted for an experience, I sat before 7-10 places trying to decide which one to chose and this one kept calling to me. We came in late December hoping for some snow ❄️⛄️and that is exactly what we got! This home offered so much more than a place to sleep between activities, we were welcomed by cozy decor, a ton of space, and endless entertainment. We played so many board games, stayed up late laughing and making such special memories. Us girls took a dip in the hot tub and we indulged in the scavenger hunt which was so so neat! We were never bored or without something to do or see. These owners are wonderful and we plan to return in the summer to enjoy the river and outdoor amenities 🛶 Hands down best vacation we have ever had.
Joe and Lori, thank you again!
Merry Christmas 🎄
