Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Tilisca?
The best area to stay in Tilisca is within the village centre itself, particularly around the main square and the historic church.

This central part of Tilisca offers a truly authentic Transylvanian village experience. You'll find traditional guesthouses, many of which are beautifully restored with rustic charm but offer modern comforts. The main square is a focal point, often hosting local events, and the village's historic church, with its distinctive architecture, is usually nearby. The streets here are generally quieter and pleasant for a stroll.

Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will find this area ideal. It provides a chance to unwind, enjoy the slow pace of village life, and experience Romanian hospitality. Many guesthouses offer home-cooked meals using local produce, adding to the relaxed and authentic stay.

Families will also appreciate the central village location. It's easy to explore on foot, and the open spaces around the church or village green provide room for children to play.
When is the best time to go to Tilisca?
The best time to go to Tilisca is during the late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

During these months, the weather is generally mild and agreeable, great for exploring the natural beauty of the area and engaging in outdoor activities. You'll find lush green landscapes in spring and beautiful autumnal colours in early autumn. The summer months (July-August) can be warm and are popular with families, so if you prefer a quieter experience, avoiding the peak school holiday season is advisable.

Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will appreciate the quieter trails and more intimate dining experiences available in late spring and early autumn. These seasons provide comfortable temperatures for hiking in the nearby Cindrel Mountains or simply enjoying the peaceful village surroundings without the bustle of larger tourist groups.

For those interested in local culture and traditions, visiting in September allows you to potentially experience some of the harvest festivals in the Sibiu region, adding a unique dimension to your trip.
